so fuck whichever guy engineered this shit and forgot to put a note saying "throw some anti-rust shit in there"
Im trying to remove the alternator on a 99 civic i just did a swap in for my GF, nothing fancy blown y8, had a y7 block threw the y8 head on it and its good to go.
i got the bolts on the top off and the nut on the bottom of the alternator off fine. now the bolt that goes through the bracket and allows the alternator to swing to put tension on the belt just will NOT come out
I used a sledge hammer on it, heat from a small propane torch ( i need oxy!!), a 4ft crow bar, air chisel, soaked in PB blaster, heated then soaked in PB NOTHING WORKS the part of the bracket that is closer to the pulley bloke but the other side just refuses to budge.
im extremely frustrated and any help or advice is much appreciated

Ok
This sucks but every time I couldn't get that fucker out........SAWall nigga
Thats all I'll say
Make it happen
Then use a through bolt after......

Yup your going to have to bust out the power tools
-
heat it correctly and im sure you will remove it. ;)

Stuck bolts if you can remove pressure aka removing material you will usually break the stuck piece free

i couldnt get a saws all to fit between the axle/block so here is what i came up with after backhanding the bitch a few times due to frustration
i took one of my dads many CDM "14"mm wrenches and ground the box end down thin enough to fit with the alternator still on the bracket, then just pulled it out all together and replaced the bracket with a spare i had. covered everything with liberal amounts of anti seize for future needs.
thanks for the ideas guys

lol i almost did that once... then i crammed my angle grinder up in that bitch and cut the nut off... little to no collateral damages lol

take off driver tire
remove the engine mount bolts on the driver mount so the engine drops a few inchs
zip gun/ impact hamer or a punch and a mini sledge will remove that bitch fast!
