Title: I wanna make a video game.

So i been thinking about this idea i have for a Video game but quiet frankly i dont know a sole who programs or does any sort of software developement so I have no idea how to get started.  I've done some googling and I see there are tons of engines i can dowload and tinker with, but knowing nothing abotu what engines specilize in what or pros and cons i dont want to waste time doing something i dont fully understand.  

So how would one go about getting his idea to people who can make it a real video game without getting bitch rolled?

I recommend C# and XNA framework.

Microsoft Visual Studio C# Express is a free download from MS, although you could easily find the full version on torrents, all you need is express.

Has plenty of tutorials, video, sample code, etc, for developing games.  I've only tinkered with it but it's definitely 10x easier than fooling with DirectX API, and C# is a bit cleaner/easier to develop with than C++, although obviously it's not quite as fast.

XNA framework also lets you use the same code to compile for Xbox 360, Zune, and Windows, which is pretty nice.

I have a nice game idea I wanted to develop/sell on Xbox Live, but goddamn it takes a bit of work :P

Just be sure to try and kill yourself first then get slammed by a drunk driver backing out your driveway.

make sure you don't have crazy roomates that want to have orgies all the time, otherwise you will never get your levels done.
