I bet its a handful to drive :noel:
-
That corsair is lovely. You can fuck my sister. Got any vids?
-
dude....im totally moving in with you (not in a gay way unless my occupancy in your dwelling totally hinges on it)
WTF is that little-ass green car?
-
Is that a BMW? Needs a turbo ninja 500 engine. Fuck yeah.
-
The White one is an Isetta .. I inherited it from my grandfather..
Who was a machinist and Fabricator...and built the green one from scratch.
right down to the wheels. All the panels were done on an english wheel, no bondo , it's all lead paddled. Powered by an Onan 4cyl. the car was built in the mid 40's.

I call them Erkel mobile but I would love to play one of these.

I wanna use it for GRM $2010.
I can lift up the back of it with the motor in it... currently has a 300cc in it.. I am thinking Gixxer.
Busa is too big.

Turbo 600.

Turbo 600.
This. No need for reverse, the corvair should kill you long before you ever need to put it in reverse.
BTW, I've wanted to build a corvair for a while. I suppose that will be after the '88 Fiero
I have a 86 GT with a Northstar and a 5spd. Aka the Welfare Ferrari.
-
LQ1 is an abortion motor.
-
GM 60deg v-6 I stay clear of those.
LQ1 are notorious for HG and intake manifold issues.
In the parts biz we use to keep the HG set instock all the time.
Oh and the EGR valves on those like most of the of the GM 60deg V-6 would melt done and cause serious detonation or misfire issues.
Better of with the old 3.8l w/ auto tranny swap.
My personal favorite swap is the Northstar v-8 swap or the LX5 3.5l v-6 swap (sometimes known as the mini Northstar) w/ a 4t80e tranny.
If you do the LC3 swap Northstar V-8 with a S/C w/ 469bhp on tap. ;D
Or better yet Just buy a used NSX and have some basic reliable honda fun. ;D

My Buddy Shauns 88 Formula. 3.4 Iron head POS motor that is basically stock running an SC 61 and a 100 shot on 11psi. Needs a tune bad, but the 7730 ECU is shit and he ghetto's the fuck out of everything he touches.
Northstars are unreliable (mine is dead). Most guys making them fast run a 3800 SC long block and N/A 3800 intakes with big turbo's. 12 Psi on a T04E will get you well into the 11's.
-
That's a 3.4 OHV, those are good motors.
We are talking about the LQ1, 3.4 DOHC. It's a design so shitty that only GM could come up with it - the cam-in-block becomes a balance shaft so that now you have a timing chain driving it which in turn drives the belt for the cams. It has all of the flaws of the classic 2.8/3.1 fail piles that aren't on the road anymore for a reason while thrice-ruined 300K Hondas of that era still roll around reliably, plus all of the flaws that the GM engineers could incorporate in by shoving 5lbs of shit into a 5lbs bag already packed with 10lbs of shit.
I'll take pictures of the 94 LQ1 F-body with the blower I'm tuning. It runs nice, but fuck after you've worked on a few of these you can smell the mechanical pestilence radiating off the vehicle.
-
You may hate pushrods, but those 3.8's need timing chains at 80K, crank/cam sensor and module by 120K, and nothing else. I like them, they are good motors.

Yeah 3.8l are the most reliable choice. I avoid newer NA 3.8l because the plastic intakes.
When I use to work in a retail parts store we always carried the replacement intakes from Dorman the these engines. These intakes have the area that cracks near the back of the intake (opposite end from the timing chain).
