I let my wife pretty much handle my wedding plans cause I was living at work pretty much trying to get projects done so I could actually make the honey moon. Anyway the photographer she chose lives in harrisburg, PA and we got married in Butler, PA or almost 4 hours away. It was a little short notice so they decided to just meet before 3pm on our wedding day to go over things. She made our 5pm wedding by just a couple minutes, basically missed a bunch of shit and caused my fiance and mother a ton of stress. Then people told me she left really early from the reception but I wasn't paying any attention.
We have only sent a $100 deposit before the wedding. I called her a couple days ago to discuss the bill and she was talking about how happy I was going to be with the photos. I asked for a 25% discount and refused to pay her traveling fees, she said she needed to talk to her accountant.
She has all proofs prints whatever I've not seen anything yet and she sent my call to voicemail this afternoon.
Any ideas on how I can help my cause? It seems to me I'm at her mercy as she has all of my shit and could just delete and burn everything without me knowing it even existed. I won't do the obvious post up her info/ callathon or anything in this situation unless she fucks me over.

I think that's fair. No travel expenses because she was late, plus she missed 25% of the action (minimum), so she gets paid 25% less.
Fuck those overpriced button-clickers.

Ha we'll see if she finds it fair. After the wedding I kinda chewed her out cause I was pissed our limited time was being wasted from the lack of our planning meeting. Before she left the reception she offered me some extra prints because she was late. I checked her website and it equates to < $70 discount ::)

Hrmm sounds like you may or not get a hard dick in the ass.
First of all no idea why you would go for a photographer from there when Pittsburgh and the area of butler has a bunch of great photographers.
First off Did you have a meeting with the photographer? If so what was discussed in that meeting normally they will give a base list of what is included in the package you selected. Then show you a shot list that will say before wedding shots such as Mother putting on veil of daughter bride and brides maids dress shot and so forth. Same goes for groom and grooms men. Then goes into covering the wedding and formal shots and any on location shots. then covers the reception tossing of flowers garter belt and what not dollar dance ect.
Now once everything is settle with that there i always (with good photographers) a Contract This contract states any pre-wedding deposits. Then states what the package will be and what you are expected to upon completion of said services and getting your prints. Now every contract has a time frame for when you get to see the proofs and then when you the real prints. So if you have a contract look it over we use them to cover our ass and your as.
So If you have a contract read over it most photographers keep it simple largest one i have seen is 5 pages and it was in big type. So read learn what rights you have and what rights she has. If you don't have a contract or really had a in person meeting with your kinda fook'd on getting a discount since it will be left up to her to decide if you get one for being late.
As for her leaving the reception early Ask if she has gotten
The Toasts
Wedding cake
Cutting of cake
Bride dances (i.e bride father and the other imporant dances)
Groom dances (see above)
Bride throwing flowers
The garter belt
The guy who caught the garter belt putting it ont he girl who caught the flowers
Random family at the reception
And group family shoots you may have wanted
Thats pretty much it really for a wedding reception cause other than that your walking around with 10lbs around your neck dogging drunk people . Normally you tell the bride and groom your leaving.
I would just go for No travel costs and throw in some 8x10 or bigger prints or a DVD or 2 of a slide show. Unless she broke the contract (if you had one) then get that shit for free

Either you pay her or she doesnt get paid. Its not like she can sell those to anybody else. If she does not compromise, threaten with a lawyer. I hope you/whoever already agreed to a total price...

write a check for it, get your shit the same day then cancel the check.

Shit, Tim, I think my neighbor does weddings, and she's really good. Hell I know 2 other photographers off the top of my head that are local and good that you could've went with. That really sucks though, I don't think I even saw her anywhere lol
