....i think.
My laptop won't turn on, and from pm'ing with computer nerds from a local forum, many suggest the motherboard is bad.
The power light is lit up, the harddrive doesn't read anything, and the screen has no display. It won't connect to an external source.
Do any of you guys know where i can get it anywhere other than ebay?
Its a Toshiba Satelite A205-S5000. If it is the mother board i'm just gonna replace it cuz its -cheaper than buying another one.

Funny that is the same P.O.S. I have mine has issues with memory, then with HD, and now when I use the Toshiba backup disk it gets a wierd error.
But if I use my Vista update disk it works but I'm missing drivers for my touchpad.
I'm starting to hate Toshiba.
Check Josher he seems to know a lot about these and other lappys

my brothers laptop does this when it over heats, ill usually take the battery out, and wait a while, then just pop the suck back in, and alls gravy.

Thanks for the link shadow.

Damn, that's pretty fail :P
Honestly I don't know where to get laptop replacement parts...never owned one.
Don't forget to check ebay.

i've checked ebay, the mother boards are ranging from $60 - 300. And most of em say it "should" work with any A205 series, but theres like 4 different parts numbers for motherboards that i've come across.
I only assume its the motherboard based on suggestions from other ppl on another forum. I'm a bit sketched to open up my laptop, but it'll just sit there until i do. I found a step by step how-to with pictures, so i'm gonna give it a go sometime soon.
And thanks for that link, i'll see if i can find something.
If these things weren't pieces of sh!t the computer companies would never make any money.... ghey, but true.
If I replace the motherboard, is there any initializing or installing other soft ware or anything like that. I have my Toshiba Recovery disks, but I don't know if it has windows on it or if I even have to do that...

If it's the same motherboard you won't have to install anything.

Toshiba makes some shitty electronics, i've seen 2 motherboards eat shit on 2 different model laptops, and dont get me started on their disk drives, god damn they piss me off.

Yeah, typically you get what you pay for, and you don't pay much for Toshibas.
If something other than the motherboard died -- cpu, ram, gpu, hdd -- I might still buy that brand of laptop...since they don't manufacture the CPUs...
If the brand has mobo failures, would not buy from them again... I'm not sure if I'd buy a replacement on ebay either, unless it was guaranteed working. This "might work" shit sounds like "I know it doesn't work but I'm hoping I can make a few dollars off the spare parts from this POS."
