Title: Evans' N/A build thread. Homeless style build. I live in a van
Post by: Evan on September 06, 2009, 11:35:31 PM
so a couple weeks ago i decided to pull the 307 and rebuild it to give it some ok power. I have all the parts already and have completly blown my 1000 dollar budget out of the water.

Parts im using
Comp cams 262 with matching head hardware.

305 4 barrel heads. 1.84 intake 1.5 exhaust. Edelbrock torker.(i had a performer but it was too chewed up to use. so i am temporarily using the torker) holley 600 Hei alittle chrome all that good shit.

Why are you sinking money into a 307?

Cool none the less, but I would pull the crank and rods and stuff them into a 350 block with new pistons.

if you had to build a N/A, it should have been badass.  Instead you went against the recomendations of the community and embarassed yourself

why not? its the same as any other sbc. I could of spent 500 on a old stock 350 i knew nothing about and gone from there. if i did that i wouldnt have a finished short block yet.
You sir have resurrected some shit to live another day at quite a price...

940 bucks...ehh not a whole lot.+ i can put most of this stuff on another sbc should i choose so.
Chrome tin valve covers = chrome thermostat housing = leakcity
Not really. that housing have a rubber o ring to stop from leaks and i know how to actually put on a gasket
If I ever find your car I'm peeing in your carb funnel.

I took it off. My co workers are all hotrodders ( i work at a hot rod shop) and they put it on.

and to the faggot with a k swap motor. Though i may be N/A  there is no site rules as to how many cylinders you can and cannot have. get your ricer ass ego out of here.

Not all SBCs are created equal.

307 blocks historically have soft cylinder walls.  I wasn't saying you should build a 350 like every other jackass, rather, build a large journal 327 for dirt cheap is all.

307 crank plus 350 block = 327.

thats a urban legend. there nickel content is about the same as any other other sbc. some even had higher nickel content.

and I plan on doing another build soon. this was just a cheap crap set up to give some nice street able power and enough to shut down some of the cars at my high-school

If you knew anything about how to do gaskets you wouldn't put a rubber gasket on stamped tin dead fucking smooth chrome plated valve covers. Fail, sorry. Your shit will leak, there is no doubt.

I was talking about my thermostat housing.

and i put permatex on my gaskets when i put them on.

For the valve covers i do the tops only because yes your right thats where they typically mostly leak..
