Heading out tonight, race is tomorrow morning. Not too much more than a marathon... 50k--31miles. I did one marathon before, a self-designed, unsanctioned, unofficial marathon around 27 miles long of which I was the only racer, with ~5000feet of vertical gain (and loss) while I was at Rainier NP. This one is outside of flagstaff on the Hopi Reservation. High, hot desert plateaus, with 4800 ft of elevation gain. SHOULD BE INTERESTING. Give me a virtual goodluck ass-slap, and if I live, I'll report back tomorrow eve with results.
If you're interested, google for the Water is Life run in AZ. Did a 10k in the same area last weekend, beautiful country, people were incredibly nice and welcoming, and the Hopi are one of the tribes that has actually kept up a significant part of their cultural traditions. The run goes through some ancient towns that have been continually inhabited for 1000yrs. So yee, I'll see you guys out there.

My girlfriend will do a marathon saturday. 42km Oasis marathon at Montreal.
I prefer to do fast 5km run myself... I run 2-3 time a year and I do it in 23min. I want to do it in 18min but I have to run more than 3 time a year lol I'm a nerd and not an athlete, but I have fucking good cardio.

I lived! it was a pretty amazing run. Definitely brutal. It got really hot about halfway in. My buddy and I finished together at a hefty time of 5:26 for 5th and 6th places. As for my standard pace in longer runs-- its pretty hard to tell because all the ones I've done so far have been ridiculous (at high elevation, with lots of climbs and such) but I would like to think I could run a solid 3:30 in a flatter, closer to sea level marathon. My friend took pictures, when I get them I'll throw them up here. Beautiful country fo sho. And Joseph, thanks for the upgrade (and the couch, back in the day).

Thats how i started off, doing a few 5k's a year-- still love to, they are a ton of fun (the run itself, and the social events afterward, especially when beer is on tap)

At "Maski-Courons International" the time is not good... I did it in the 22ish. They didnt put the sensor detector at the good place, so everybody has the same start time. It tooks me at least 30 seconds to start running...
