I am swapping motors in my dd beater. I have a d15b7(pm8) and a d15b2(pm3) the b2 has bad valves and a good bottom end and the b7 has a good head and a broken piston. Which would be best for my to4e 50trim dd?

same head

same head, different cam/springs

Would you happen to know the details on the difference between the two?

One sucks, the other sucks hard.

One the cams, yes I know. I believe I measured the B1 cam, but it sucks. B2 and B7 cams are the same.

b7 has better springs.

You laid hands on a B2 with a B7 cam swapped in, then. I went from a B2 with B7 IM and P06 to an actual B7, with the same exhaust manifold/exhaust/etc. There's a difference in top end.

Nope, it was a B2 OEM cam, I still have it. 90 DX motor got sludged, supplied no oil to the cam and it seized. The car was serviced by local Honda and the head was replaced. I got the old B2 head. Still have the cam and head.
Made a great fixture.

About the B7 springs being better.....depends on when Honda changed oevr to use up old stock. 1992 and early 1993 production used D15 springs, but at some point in 1993 Honda started using D16A6 springs which are slightly stiffer.

by looking at the head is there anyway to tell what springs? Also my b7head has threaded where the vtec solenoid would bolt to like my a6 and the b2 doesnt

That is for the fuel pump, not VTEC.

In jdm land some have carbs and mechanical fuel pumps that run off the cam.
