this is my buddy's car and it has a long story to it but here's the short version
got car for free needed lots of topend work
sold and then bought it back for half price from a crack head bitch
wg is stuck shut; will now over boost and ''shut off''
cool car in its unique way. i've driven it and its comfy and the auto trans would make it a nice bracket car to win some sport compact races locally.

What is available for tuning these things? I have read that the 86s had 1.8L and the 87's had the :mexi: 2.0L that was the same as the syclones and shit (not even sure what those are). Also that these ''shut off'' at 12psi.
The winter plans for this thing are external WG and setting up some socketing/chipping/ecu stuff/tuning for future upgrades.

Doublecheck to make sure you have the 1227749 ECM, but I'm 99% certain you do.
You can get all your gear at www.moates.net (http://), you're looking at under $100 if you already have an Ostrich. These cars are easy as pie. Also look around the interwebs and Moate's FTP for $58 or $58A hack files, a lot of the common ECUs (730/749 is as common as it gets) you can do cool shit with.

my mothers 86 sunbird gt convertible has the same motor/turbo
it runs up to 14lbs and cuts fuel at the top end
fun as hell to piss with V6 camaros and ricer hondas

i thought it was the red valvecover cars that had the 7749? that's what i got the one sitting on my desk out of.
oh well..
there's also www.code59.org (http://) if you want some $58 code that's been improved upon. i believe they're running DIS ignition, closed-loop wideband fueling, 3bar MAP sensors, extended boost/rpm tables and other sillyness now.
