Title: Welding WG shut

I wanna weld the WG shut on my IHI GM3 turbo...whats the best way to prep it before welding?
I thinking carbit it then sticking it with a 6010 rod  O0

i would do any prep at all. just go to town, itll burn through all the carbon and rust. thats what 6010 is good for.
