not a kodak. I got one a while back and it's a fucking POS. Ready to throw it away. My old 3.8MP kodak I previously had took better pics than this 10.something POS. There's some brand that's really good, and they make cheap cameras that are good too, can't remember the name though. :) But that's the one I'd buy.

I like my Canon PowerShot A590IS . Paid 200$ like 2 years ago and works great. Doesnt take 30sec to take the pic at least.

digital SLR.  That shits pretty much instant.

Other than that, there's some nikons that have decently quick shutter lags.

Alot of people simply cant be bothered with actually looking through the viewfinder to see their shot.   ::)

You really cant go wrong with Canon or Nikon.  They own the industry, and set the standard.

I got a  cannon g7 like 3 or 4 years ago.  10 mp, 12 optical zoom, not SLR just point and shoot but you can swap apratures or lenses or whatever. takes pretty good pics.

how much money do you want to spend? if I were to buy a point and shoot right now, it would be a nikon p90. I do know that canon also makes a nice p&s camera. im not very knowledgeable on them though.

what you are referring to is "lag time" -the time between you pushing the button and the camera taking the picture. Unless you spend thousands of dollars on a camera, all are going to have it in some form. My $1k d90 has lag time. It not that of my super shitty coolpix L series but its there.

I don't think he has that money to spend. My assumption would be that he wants another point and shoot.

this is prolly irrelevent, but certain modes in my nikon take the pic faster than others, like said above its the camera focusing, generally the sports or action modes waste less time, but sometimes sacrifice picture clarity. also if red eye reduction is on it takes forever and flashes like 36 million times.

Is the D40 better then the P90  ???

nikon d40 with the kit lens is gonna be your best option.
however there is always gonna be lag if your shit is not in focus

I love my d40, but there's still a learning curve for anyone who has never had to compensate exposure.  Nikon's sensors do some weird shit when you change exposure.  Gotta know your camera.  Frank knows what im talking about.

Is the D40 better then the P90  ???

In the hands of an experienced photographer, yes.  In the hands of joe shmoe, not likely.

I have a $200cdn Olympus from Costco and it's pretty quick for a point and shoot.

PS I voted for KILL THE CANADIANS

If you are asking questions like this, quit thinking about a d anything. Get the p90 unless your interested in devoting some time to learning photography.

If you are saying...fuck you frank, I wanna learn photography but have no clue what the fuck a camera does other than take pictures.....get a p90 and start there. With that camera you can still have a ton of control over exposure if you wish, and it has a great sensor/processor and will take great pictures if you want it to.

I want a p90 and I have all of these other bitchin cameras, if that tells you anything.

Of course everyone has their opinions, its up to you to decide.
