Another Spacer from Pbt or Me. This is an adapter/spacer for the d16a1 integra/dohc zc Jdm motors. They along with the d16a6 share an odd bolt pattern not based on the aftermarket bolt pattern throttle bodies. This limits you to a oem overbored throttle body of only 59mm plate size. With so many 400+ whp d series motors coming out of the wood works via the sohc d series I figured offer a product to help those getting to that goal with the Dohc D series Honda motors.
Its a 2 piece design due to having to get correct centered ports and keeping the iacv port happy. The plates thickness is a total of 3/4 inch. They taper from a 70mm inlet down to a 62mm that meets at the intake manifold.
Gaskets use Rtv silcone its 2 bucks a tube and does the job.
So far the one car tested with stock cams but ported head/74mm throttle body/spacer/bolts ons rips for such a simple motor build. Anywho here are pics its a gallery with a pbtuning 70mm unit installed on a d16a1 88-89 integra manifold along with the adapter/spacer.

great idea chris! I might be interested in a setup like this for my father-in-law for xmas. How much?
-
looks good. keeping the zc's alive
-
70 without bolts. 85 if I include the bolts. Its a low production item so pricing is a little more expensive. Its also a 2 piece design so machine time takes longer also.
-
looks good. keeping the zc's alive
Im trying. The dohc zc is really a bitchin motor that has kind of been forgotten.
-
Manifold shown is not ported hence the lip. When port matching you will use the first spacer as a guide port to that and blend into the spacer for a perfect port.
This is what you should do also with my other spacers for the B series and d16z6/d16y8 manifolds.
-
chris are you feeling OK ??? U never post pics :o
-
Nope Im high off working on f20 madness build, 60 cent energy drinks and Panda express
-
There's a super rare ZC IM that fits a B-series TB. Made me giggle when I saw it.
-

Yup for one year 1992 the last year they made the dohc zc. Those motors are damn near impossible to find since it was for the Honda civic 25th anniversary and made for only 1 year in japan atleast.
The black top zc the one this adapters is built around was thrown in everything hence why importers where bring them over by the 100's
-
Yah, a local dude has one on the D16A1 in his turbo 1G CRX roadrace car. He spends a lot of money because he likes nice stuff, but he won't say how much he paid to get it. He just shakes his head and says you have no idea how hard it was to find.
-
dohc d series=awesome
-
So this allows you to use an aftermarket throttle body, or is it for a ported stock TB? It looks like aftermarket, but you weren't very clear, and I'm very retarded.
-
Inlet is 70mm
This will allow for any size b series/aftermarket throttle body up to that size . This is obviously based on the backside or plate side of the throttle body
So yes you could run a stock b series throttle body or anything up to 70mm plate based throttle bodies
-
Dose this fit a S-10 ???
-
Dose this fit a S-10 ???
yes
-
20 year old chico state slut totally digged the zc spacer.
-
Worked tonight on a dohc zc manifold for one of my own builds. The zc will not die.
-
Nope Im high off working on f20 madness build, 60 cent energy drinks and Panda express
circle k polar pops go ape?
-
New pics coming with freshly bead blasted jdm dohc zc manifold port matched to the new adapter
Im dreaming of a 400 whp d16a1 in my 86 crx.
-
dammit, i was shooting for 400+whp in my 86 crx too. whats your setup gonna be? my setups getting close to being done, already has the d16a1 with zc head and a few other things, with a 75 shot i ended up getting a 13.0@108 only ran it twice this season, the drag radials are a little small. motor only has 8k since i rebuilt it with arp goodies and put a obx lsd in the cg trans.
with the motor only having 8k im taring it down for forged internals and some valve train upgrades. do you carry 70mm throttle body's? im deff interested in getting this adapter from you, then maybe one day i will get off my ass and finish the intake manifold i was fabing for it
got any pics of urs?

-
Yes I sell 70mm throttle bodies. I also have a 74mm tapered units also
Check the for sale section of the site its all there.
-
ok, should work well. thanks nog
-
I have a f20b crx Im finishing for next season and I still have my 84mm b16a turbo motor for my drag car so the d16a1 build is pretty far back on the burner but plans are
d16a1 swap. Got a parts car like 6 months ago kept the drivetrain.
modified ls rods
vitara pistons
ungodly amount of port work on the head. The d16a1/dohc zc heads is in an era when Honda left tons of material in the heads so you can spend days porting these bastards. Its a porters dream. Ported heads on these motors are not uncommon to make 20+ whp on motor.
ported dohc zc intake manifold obdo
pbtuning spacer/adapter
74mm throttle body
Clutchmasters stage 5 clutch(I bought that awhile back just to have it)
Most likely send off a set of cams to delta.
How did the obx install go in the cg transmission?
Pics of the car its your typical ugly black 1st gen crx but straight body. Got it for 250 bucks wouldnt pass smog.
-

Whats this smog that your always talking about 8)

the diff went right in, just had to buy the shims, and the imput shaft barings always go out on the cg trans so replace it lol. i used a 2000 si b16 obx and didnt have to modify anything.. id like to send my head to jg or somthing to get some porting but im not 100% sure what im gona do there, but id like it to be flow benched. and bigger valves should help alot.
my setup consists of
homemade miniram
tial 38mm wg
60-1 garret with s cover and 63. exhaust
3"dp and custom exhaust
ebay fmic
inline walbro pump since its not intank
rc750cc peak and holds
get your tb and adaptor maybe get you to port my intake manifold if you do that
cp forged 75mm pistons
eagle h beams
it already has arp head studs, new wp,t belt, 6 puck unsprung clutch
and a few nick nacks id deff recommend filling the mounts in your crx, myn are fucked
now all i have to do is track down a obd1 dizzy that will fit and wire it up and make a conv harness. wire it all up, its vac advance right now, it was carb'd when i got it and i got the car it pretty good shape factory red for 100 bucks. there awsome cars, i have tokico illiumina struts and shity springs in the back, looking to get some 1000 pound rears for the track and some bigger torsion bars for the front.
hoping to get my car all done and oczc by next track season know of any dizzys ? nothing around here :-\

And none of this will ever happen

well i have more than half of it, and i will prob get it done before your hatch ever runs

hury the fuck up then, brandons told me how lazy you have been lol. u fix that suby you got yet? i got a 5sp 91 legacy wagon for 200 with bad hg's gota do them next week.
i guess you dont really need to get your car done til next season now, erics vitara setup is pretty much done now, just waiting on a few bs parts. he said thanks for the jewish deal on the slicks

Yes i do port work on manifolds and heads
-
Big port d16a1 ;D
-
hmm, i do want to port my head, id want a super ridiculous port job done and have the intake mani port matched, i want to find a jdm or 88-89 intake manifold too
wana do some porting soon
-
I port almost every day so sure. I have a bunch of 88-89 integra manifolds
-
Almost done porting with the dohc zc manifold with the spacer

What's your bottom dollar price for a ported manifold/spacer/throttle body for a D16A1. I can provide the cores.
-
what throttle body do you want?
-
what throttle body do you want?
Whichever is cheaper. I don't think I need a crazy huge diameter TB.
-
The spacer is designed around 70mm throttle bodies. I also cnc machine stock throttle bodies also. Obviously you wont need the spacer for that since it bolts on.
-
I thought the spacer was what gave the plenum volume that made the porting worthwhile.
-
Yeah its also designed around a 70mm throttle body so if your going to run the spacer you should run the 70mm throttle body. Thats why I designed them to match my 70mm cast new throttle bodies.
Porting done correctly and oem bored throttle bodies are a great budget option and have worked for years
The spacer+70mm throttle body is a step up for the guys who are trying to reach the bigger numbers with the d series motor.
-
At the least with the spacer you should run a oem bored over obd1+ b series throttle body
-

Oh I also offer layaway now too

I will inform the board of directors for the next fiscal year's budget.

Cool Im on the Kmart board of directors

I'll be waiting for the DOHC D blue light special.

installed the spacer. Dope!!

Wrong thread fool you got a mad jdm b16a. You only wish you had a dohc zc
You like the throttle response?

haha, yeah works good.

Damn, I didn't know the OBD1 ZC was that rare... I bought my 89 SI with a 92 ZC, and a P29 ECU...
-
only came in one year they are rare
-
Worked on the d16a1 head a little this weekend. Should be done with it by xmas time if I stay motivated.
-
I get to tune a turbo D16A1 dropped in a 1G CRX roadrace car. I am so excited.
-
Hey chris, little lost here. Ive got a d16a6, stock ported manifold, this adapter bolts up to the stock mani obviously, but then what bolt pattern are the new holes for?? bolt pattern to a B series?? or does it retain d16??
Im curious if a custom throttle cable would be needed aswell...
-
New bolt pattern is for aftermarket bolt pattern aka b/h series
d16a6/d16a1/dohc zc=bastard bolt pattern allowing only the ability to run a factory bored 59mm throttle body which is uber wack on the big turbo d16 motors that are so popular these days.
oem throttle cable bracket works the spacer is 3/4 of an inch just enough room in the cable to adjust as needed.
I know you have been gone awhile but the days of running stock top end d16 builds is long gone. Big throttle bodies, port work, cam upgrades are the norm.
-

What turbo? Stock motor?
-
Oh my head isnt stock lol, gasket matched and ported, crane cam, oversized valves etc etc, just have a stock overbored T/b. Which I plan on upgrading
You also sell t/b's?? If the stock cable works Id def be up for upgrading, that billet spacer looks tits
-
Dump the d16a6 manifold and upgrade to a ported d16z6 manifold. I also make a spacer for that manifold so it can hold one of our big bore throttle bodies 74mm inlet-68mm plate or 70mm inlet-68mm plate.

Zc powa
-
so does this space use the stock bolt pattern or a different one?
-
ZC
-
b series pattern on zc manifold
-
Yeah. I know its for a zc but what is the NEW bolt pattern for the throttle body?
Also, I have a buddy with a dohc zc realtime wagon. When it starts up, blue smoke comes out. What could that be?
-

Blue is rings or seals.

throttle body bolt pattern is
aftermarket or b series

d16a1 head is at the machine shop for the valve job. Super duper ports

when are you gona have time to do my head :-*

Soon I have a couple more k series/s2000 things to finish up first.

sounds good. id like to get my big ported head on with the delta 272s, supertech springs/retainers, your 74mm tb and spacer and see what kind of #s i can put down with the vitaras. 1g crx ftw. stock valves should work alright huh?

jebus. i hate you. now make my head look like that :P
Thats the plan. Working on my h23a bluetop vtec head a little this weekend
-
Still working on the bastard d16a1 build that is about the 48th thing to do on the list. Have a set of cams going off to delta this week.
-
Use LS valves to get another 0.010" stem height above the keeper, tell Delta to grind it wilder as geometry isn't stock anymore.
-
Head is done needs another bath thing is still dirty after 3 power wash duties and I need to figure out what valve springs Im going to run in this bastard. Also having a dog eater aka Mr. Phan hook it ups on an obx lsd for the transmission.
I also gutted the 25 year old interior. I should have it up and running by 2016.
-
Oh and Im getting rich off the zc adpater/spacer I have sold a total of 3 of them :'(

zc
