just got some new rims with an off set that hits my strut... so i need some space. maybe 1/4 to 3/5 of an inch. i sourced some spacers, but wont get them till monday, can i use washers as a ghetto rig for a couple days?

Mr Gasket spacers.

LOL Ive done that before. I used a caliper to measure the thickness of washers on each stud.
-
depends on the inside of the hub on the rim.
If it has at least a 1/2" wider flat area around each stud, then I would use wide fender washers.
Drill out the center of the fender washer to 1/2" then stack them but I would not do more than a 1/4"
BTW is your camber Ok?
Did you lower this car?
What size tires are you using?
Or is it the rim itself that is hitting the strut?

update: i used some washers. works fine

Nonsense. You can also do it to anything Delacruz drives around. :mexi:

washers as spacers :o

Yeah washer, wide as possible to spread load and keep it to a min. thickness.
I did this a few years back when my primary tires auto-x were ruined. So used my set of rims and tires off of my '96 Corolla.
But the rim offset caused the rims to touch the front struts.
So I used wide fender washers stacked about 3/16".
When doing this you try to have the same height of washer for each stud.
Since there is some variance in thickness I measured them with a vernier caliper.
Mixed them around until I got as close as possible to a uniform thickness so you don't get the wheels exhibiting an osculation.
BTW I only had to do this to the front.
Used this setup for a weekend until I got new tires for my normal auto-x rims.
Now that I work at a foundry and machine shop I just get spacers made for me. ;D

i got big washers with uniform heigth. most importantly, im not french so its pretty hard for me not to be awesome

Anything that affects hub run-out can warp rotors. I wouldnt run this for log, Colt.
-
thanks for the info. just a temporary band aid, not permanent
-
each washer was 1.25" diameter, drilled to just enough for them to slide/scrape over the lug threads. i did a good job at the ghetto rig.
-
To add to what I said before, ten thousands of an inch hub run out will warp a rotor with the quickness.
996 turbos are bad for having shity warped wheels consequently warping the $300 each rotors.
-
Post pics of these new wheels.....Are they on the new yota?
-
Yeah as mentioned this is a bad idea, you really need the wheel center to locate off the center feature of your rotor or hub.
