They never were cheap to begin with, not considering the failure rate.

I got mine for $300 Canadian from Canadian Tire

No, I referred him to the gianttech repair post and he said he has it working. Im not convinced that he didn't send it to a buddy of his to fix.

Mines like 4 years old. But its only welded 2 manifolds and 2 roll cages and some charge pipes

Are they scratch start? Im needing a tig but dont want the pain of scratch start

The ones I had weren't. They come in both styles.

Yes the one I got from Canadian Tire is scratch start, seem they are going to stop selling them and they are on clearance right now for $150
