Title: which k20 ecu
Post by: robus on October 30, 2009, 05:58:16 AM
I never thought I would, but a great deal came up so I took the plunge and bought a K20 longblock.
Now I need to get  ecu and harness. Can I just get the stock PRB ecu with an adapter harness, or will the immobililzer lock up?

Otherwise if I'm forced to go aftermarket what do you ecu gurus say, which is better, Aem or Kpro?

thanks

Get an AEM 1050 box, make conversion harness, flash with K-fail startup map.  Alternately, stock ECU with xenocron K-immobilizer delete.

thanks JD. I really wasn't looking forward to spending 1 grand on kpro to simply drive it stock.
AEM box will be for when it's boosted.
Anyone else besides xenocron selling the immobilizer delete?

Uh, didn't you know xeno gives RHMTers a 20% discount because he feels bad about how things went with ex-RHMT?  Call them up, ask for Jay.  He'll hook you up.   :noel:

Lol, just bought an H22A longblock for 100 euro off ebay... if it turns out okay, I'll just resell the K and its headaches for a good profit...

Unfortunately, it seems that some people are pulling your leg in regards to a discount (a while back someone posed as Chris on rHMT and said there was a discount, I believe this is just people joking around in reference to that).

OK JD you spoke prophetically, I found a great deal on a 1030 box, apparently no one wants them in Italy—they're all bent 90 degrees to Hondata. Haha good for me!

I'm tempted to do the conversion harness myself, even found a write-up, but it's all a new world to me... hmmm thinking thinking, what if I fuck up, and damage the ecu... allright just thinking outloud will sleep on it

It's pretty easy.  Go to the AEMPower Forums and download the user manuals for the 30-1030 box and for whichever of the K-series boxes is applicable to your chassis.  It lists pin for pinout, make your conversion harness accordingly.  Then flash the 1030 box with the calibration for the K-series box you built the conversion harness for, and get to tuning.  If you fuck anything up I'll give you some money on the AEM.  :P

I just made another conversion harness for the heavyslut St00pra Goforth just traded for, 30-1000 box:
