Title: best clean way for dirty flanges..

what tittle says, im trying to use a hard wire brush for clean the flanges, flanges i get have something like plastic film and have black colour and it's hard to get it very cleaned , it takes a lot of time too, any method for clean them fast?

Get the kind you can put in a 4 1/2" mini-grinder and then you can clean them in like 2 minutes. Just clamp the flange to a bench and have at it. They will eat anything off of the flanges, rust, paint, you name it, it will come off.

if walter is talking about mill scale, which im pretty sure he is, a wire brush even one that goes on a grinder will not take that stuff off.

40gr flap wheel and 30 seconds you got a fresh clean surface.

i will use belt sander on all my flanges to get a nice even surface. It is clearly cosmetic but works well just don't expect it to be a quick process.

I typically hit just the weldment area lightly with the angle grinder til it's shiny. Takes about 4.7 seconds.
