Title: Sold the Mustang and took the Accord to the track
Post by: Whitey on November 08, 2009, 10:36:57 PM
Well the Mustang is gone.  Ever since I bought the Accord I've been debating on what to do with the Mustang becuase all I really did with the car was take it out and fry some tire and it finally caught up with me.  One night after a party I was doing doughnuts at an intersection, went around one too many times and with the smoke I lost track of how close I was to the side of the road and slid into a rock and fucked up the underside:

In 13,000 miles I went through 5 sets of these:

It was definitely a fun car.  I was going to keep it and make a project out of the car but the body shop wanted $1800 to fix it and I think I'm done with major car projects.  They just take up too much space and suck up too much money.  I'll stick to bikes and 4-wheelers.  But I did take the Accord to the track on Friday.  Track surface temps were 20deg so traction sucked and with the temp every car was breaking and oiling the track so I only got 2 runs in with a best of 14.3@100.

(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv450%2FHMTWhitey%2FAccord%2FDSC01537.jpg&hash=3a5148d09dbf7e883e08f6dca0ec509807396b6f)

14.0-14.1's are doable, hoping for high 13's but I don't know on the stock tires.  Heading to the track again this weekend to get the times down and to see if its faster with or without traction control.  The second run I ran without traction control, picked up 1mph but let off due to wheel hop so got a shitty 2.4 60'  Anyway here's the video:

it even grabbed a dirty 4th it was so cold  O0 (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v450/HMTWhitey/Accord/?action=view&current=MOV01530.flv[/URL)

Steeda sill plates?  Don't tell me you have the metal heater control knobs, too?  No wonder you think cars are expensive when you buy crap like that.

I didn't buy them, they were on the car when I bought it.   :-\  the only aftermarket parts I ever bought for the car was Strange 10 way adjustable struts, eibach springs and a Fiord clutch adjuster.

My second run I actually trapped 101mph.  I would have never thought it would be close to breaking 13's in stock form.  This car does have 3 cats on it and these motors apparently pick up 35hp just by taking them off

But the car has the metal heater knobs and cruise control buttons, right?

Is that what they usually run? Pretty damn fast for a stock accord.

Its the Homemade short shifter that makes it a runner O0

When I first saw this pict I was think of an EF with large tires in the rear like the old skool muscle cars of the 60's and 70's did.

Makes me think of an episode of Red Green, where Red weld a set of rims to a set already bolted on one of his unlimited supply of K-cars.

Then use the car as a dually pick-up. ;D

Pictures of said accord, stat.

I'm not up on my newer honda knowledgeabilities (still stuck in the 95 and older realm, probably permanently).  Is that a v6 vtec engine?  dohc?  what kind of HORSEPOWERS does it have?  Hurry up and build a test pipe or 3 for those catalytic converters

RWD is definitely a ton more fun but I couldn't take my Mustang anywhere when it snowed.  I used to mount up junkyard tires and we would just go out till we were driving back on the rims.  I had that car for almost 5 years and went through a countless amount of tires.  It just sucks it finally caught up with me but I really shouldn't have been doing doughnuts that night either.   :-\
