Title: MAME or MESS emulators
Post by: fork on November 16, 2009, 08:36:49 PM
So I've wanted to build an arcade cabinet for a while now and I just found  a crack head deal on a cabinet with a monitor for $25.  This MAME shit looks complicated I can't deal with command line bull shit because I don't have the patience, I just want to click on game and play it.  I can handle the hardware no problem.  Should I just get MAMEUI or is there a better front end. Where the hell can I DL good ROMs and not get viruses.   There are torrents on mininova but they are huge like 20 gig plus and I don't want to DL all that shit if its not gonna work.

I know some of you Nogs have done this before, so hook me up.

Google Mame32. It's a gui for MAME. I've been using it for at least 5 years and it's great. You can organize games by category, mfr, favorites you decide, etc.

So the crackhead deal got better, I got the game home, its NFL blitz and NBA something or other and it works perfectly.  Ha Its probably worth 500 minimum, I could probably get 800 if I am patient.  I want to get it in my basement with my pool table but it probably weighs 300 lbs.

Look into jamma multi game boards. One should plug right into that cabinet with little or no wiring.
