so yeah whats the most quite bov? or is there a decent way to make them quite without killing the performance of it? car will have a smaller sized turbo (46 lbs/min 588cfm) at like 10psi, so it wont need a fat ass TiAL 50mm...
-
recirculate it back into the intake.
its speed density, it will most likely not have an intake, just a filter... :-\
-
Route the recirculate tube in after the MAF or put the BOV before the MAF and recirculate it back into the turbo. Just add an intake to the turbo inlet.
-
well i guess you could put some kind of foam over the outlet of it.
like the sound proofing eggshell stuff.
that would slow down the air coming out, but probably not restrict it enough to cause problems.
There's an idea, try building your own silencer. You don't want to block the opening in any way though. look at dirtbike silencers/mufflers for inspiration. Don't know how quiet it would be though.
2 diameters of pipe, small one fits inside larger one. Drill holes in smaller, wrap lightly with fiberglass insulation, and seal up openings on either end of the larger pipe, leave smaller open. Route bov through smaller pipe. Could probably make this with a trip to the hardware store or some leftover charge piping.

SYNAPSE BLOW OFF IS QUIET
trust me.
Even on dyno at 15psi you could hardly hear it on my h22 at 470horse with the 6262e turbo
Go to my thread in the forced induction section and watch my videos you cant hear it.

This is what I agree with...

Every car ive seen/heard with that bov on it wasnt quiet. Yours must be a fluke of combination.
-
Fluke or whatever it may be. On the dyno you could clearly see it was operating 100percent on and off the throttle. All you heard was a little whoosh followed by a large stream of air you could feel about three foot in front of bumper.

One of the miata guys on the old site had pics of his wrapped in packing foam.

Tial 50mm out the hood. and Wear ear plugs super quiet O0
-
I've also seen someone with theirs wrapped in foam, I almost thought it was on OHMT. I think it was an SSQ, which can be very loud with that piercing whistle. Another solution is to hook a tube to it, run it for 2-4 feet, then end it with some foam at the end. Its generally the first second or three that you let off the throttle that your turbo will be most likely to surge. A poorly performing BOV is usually noted by opening late, not by flowing too little.
FYI the Tial's I've heard are actually rather quiet, since it has a large amount of area to escape w/o making much turbulance. The only loud Tials I've heard are with giant-turbo setups like a single-turbo Supra.

those niggers

dustin i've got a bosch one from a 1.8t you can have

It was me. :D I wrapped my knockoff tial 50mm BOV in foam. Makes in very quiet. Before, it was loud as balls. Now you don't hear it at all unless it's a full boost pull and I slam the throttle shut, and you barely hear it and just for like 0.1 seconds at that. Basically you don't hear it anymore.
Bought the foam at walmart for 12 bucks I think. Zip tied it on. Put a random hose clamp around it too for good measure. :noel:

If you think it's gay, you're right. Have a cookie. And cry when your fail wheel drive honda gets waxed by a seemingly stock quiet gay miata.

Swiss cheese it a la project cheap slut
-
i can make your bov silent give me a call
-
What about dumping the flow of the BOV towards the back/underside of the battery tray into the duct of fender frame rail?
-
heard you swallowed to keep the IN jailbait quiet!
Sleep!
-
Duck call ftmfw!

diverter valve. you're welcome.
