Title: Regrinds for DOHC VTEC
Post by: HiProfile on November 25, 2009, 12:22:00 PM
I'd like to know if anyone has used Delta cams for dohc vtec heads before. I know they work fine with sohc's, but I know the dohc heads can sometimes develope lifter wear issues with certain cams.

I'd also like some advice for cams in a GSR turbo. It will basicly be stock besides the turbo - would I be better off with "mild" cams like ITRs? I'm primarly interested in turbo response rather than peak power. It will mainly be used on the street.

I have some Skunk2 pro 1 copies from delta they work great. But I only had about 600 miles on the motor though.

Delta got back to me, and said they do each cam for $150, and only have Skunk2 Pro1 & Pro2 profiles. You'd think they'd have CTR profiles too, since new OEM cams go for >$300 each. S2P1's seem to be the best for all but the craziest builds.

I guess now I'm mainly concerned with wear. I know sohc guys love Deltas to death, but didn't see many dohc people with them. Since the P1/P2's are all they offer, I'll probably wait to save up for valvetrain parts.

Definately report any wear issues if you notice it. I know billet steel can really hurt the lifters, and welded steel would be closer to that vs "chilled cast" steel.
