996 turbos, even while a bit ugly, are still very much a Porsche, the 924 was an abortion bucket escapee.

It wouldnt last long enough.  Those things are junk.  Worthless unless you want to build a half-tube drag car. 

The Audi four banger was shit under boost.  There's a reason the 944 didnt use that drivetrain.

its too bad its not in NY.  I'd buy it, brutally rape on it for a while, then up the boost until it pops and sell anything of value off it.  Then light the rest on fire
