So a buddy of mine, has a 2006 SRT8 300c, and has decided he would like to turbo it. What are some decent options for EM? Obviously in a car like this all of the amenities need to still work after.
Will an AEM, or Big Stuff 3, or Motec(insert number here) be able to interface so the factory computer is happy after? Or is the ECU readily tunable?
Looking for about 600hp, probably on an S366 as he has one sitting on the shelf.

If you want to get in the factory ECU you need to find your closest DiabloSport tuner is my advice, unless they've finally released the single end-user version of their software.
Standalones, however, are standalones. They standalone which doesn't equal interface with stock applications. I know the SRT-4's you can run with an AEM but retain the factory ECU to drive the instrument cluster and other functions. It works great from a tuning perspective, but according to a scantool or scantool emissions, no, the stock ECU is not happy.
BTW, the 6.1 is a great motor but past 450-475 you really need to stuff forgings into it.

Yeah the owner of the car, said they have weak rods factory, figured he would run it till it blew and then build a stroker motor.
He has a diablosport handheld tuner (uses it for cat removal), but it doesn't allow for a new map sensor. I guess if he follows through with the project, we will get in touch with diablosport.
Thanks.

Running until you blow with weak rods is a great way to have to buy a second engine to build. Not everything S-bends a rod like a Miata, leaving a good core.
Lemme ask my friend that tunes all the DCX's what his opinion is on that aspect.
-
6.1 dcx shit pistons
they're absolutely fragile
generally when the rods break, they go through block
but I see probably 5:1 pistons:rods
cranks are strong.

Do you know if the ring lands break, or if they just crack in two?

SCT is having a dodge deal threw the first of 2010. owner of my shop showed me prices they are dirty cheap. :mexi:

Last I checked SCT has a really shitty variation of the already wierd Dodge NGC architecture, and no datalogging. No bueno.

Hmm well we are supposed to do a dodge ram soon with the sct excalibur hes been a SCT tuner for almost 10 years. Ill let you know how every thing goes down. i would beleave they would have some datalog capabilities.

I would be very interested in that too, as I have a possibility in the future of turboing a 5.7 hemi dodge.

The SRT-4's definitely do not, the later stuff might. Aside from anecdotes related to me by friends who tune them I have no experience with anything Dodge other than SRT4.
FYI, some of the lore than i am told is stock 6.1>built 5.7.

We use Diablo at the shop. The tuner seems to like it.

I am guessing the tuner version, allows for map sensor changes?

Anybody used this http://www.force-efi.com/fast.htm (http://www.force-efi.com/fast.htm) looks like an afc hack, but with timing control?? Says it works with both the 5.7 and 6.1 hemi's.
