OK I can get a 93 prelude of a friend for fucking dirty cheap. (he has to get it out of his yard pronto)
The h22 is gone but has EVERYTHING else.
I need a new daily that has ac /power everything and this kid wants my 92 hatch bad and im gonna get a chunk for it.
So heres my question.
Since all this thing needs engine/paint job.
I know absolutely dick about f and h series other then there trannys suck.
I would stick with a h22 but f20bs are around 1000 shipped vs the h22 which are almost double that.
Im trying to get this car rolling for less then 1300 and need to figure something out soon.
Can I throw a f20b long block in it without anything extra?
O and fuck who ever says search first because Im not going on HMT even if I wasn't banned to search and yahoo keeps bringing me to HT and that place is about as useful as JD in a hair growing competition. :-*

I didn't know it was a direct swap.
That may be a option.
I still want something with some balls, since im getting rid of a my d15 turbo for it.
-
The prelude s google it. The fastest sohc in the world is a f22 for a reason. There is 50+hp hiding in the f22's and its not very expensive to get it.

Im already looking for turbo manifolds.

IIRC you can redrill a 2G DSM mani to go on the F22 head.

F22A
This engine series was used in the Honda Accord and Honda Prelude S. Aside from differences in tuning, these engines are substantially similar.
Specifications
* Bore × Stroke: 85.0 × 95.0 mm
* Displacement: 2156 cc
* Valve Configuration: SOHC, 16 valves, Non vtec
* Compression ratio: 8.8:1
* Max power:
o F22A1: 125 hp (93 kW) @ 5200 rpm
o F22A4: 130 hp (97 kW) @ 5200 rpm
o F22A6: 140 hp (104 kW) @ 5600 rpm
o F22A7: 150 hp (110 kW) @ 5900 rpm (147hp/108kW with automatic transmission)
* Max torque:
o F22A1: 137 ft·lbf (186 N m) @ 4000 rpm
o F22A4: 142 ft·lbf (193 N m) @ 4000 rpm
o F22A6: 142 ft·lbf (193 N m) @ 4500 rpm
o F22A7: 145 ft·lbf (198 N m) @ 5000 rpm
[edit] F22B1
This engine was used in the Honda Accord EX and Acura CL 2.2. It was the first F engine to feature VTEC.
Specifications
* Bore × Stroke: 85.0 × 95.0 mm
* Displacement: 2156 cc
* Valve Configuration: SOHC, 16 valves, VTEC
* Compression ratio: 8.8:1
* Max power: 145 hp (108 kW) @ 5500 rpm
* Max torque: 147 ft·lbf (199 N m) @ 4500 rpm
So It looks like the manual f22a7 is the best out of the single slams?
I definitely can work with that compression ratio.

i would just get a f23 from the junkyard fuck a h22 they dont seem reliable
-
Fuck a f23, if your gonna go f series... Go f22Ax. Any of them, but the A6-7 are the ones to have.
The f23 has the same siamesed ex ports as the f22Bx and closes alot of doors as far as ease of boosting in the future...
Also the F VTAK head flows about like shit.
Trust me... I had a very successfull love affair with the F series (if ya remember that far back). I made about the same on a bone stock F block as widebody does on pump with his built H... Would have made more too...if I wouldnt have fucked the motor up being greedy and dumb no retune for more boost...
The F22Ax can be had DIRT cheap... Throw some ARP headstuds at them an run a OEM vbalancer and theyre good to go for around 375-400 WHP. Stock from pan to cover.
Also the iron cylinder liners are a bonus too, throw some pistons at it and make ovfer 400... :noel: Not saying thats what you want to do, but you COULD...
The Fs TQ down low is REALLY REALLY fun, and you dont HAVE to rev them to make the power really usable... But I bumped my limiter to 7K on mine and had 0 issues.
-
I might just part out the shell and send it to the junk yard if I cant get a motor cheap or come up with the extra dough to put a f20b in it.
It would just be a shame because everything on the car works and just needs a pain job.
I cant have another project sitting in my yard for more then a month or the city is gonna come after my ass.
The crx just got something sexy to.

yea, if you dont now what the fuck you are doing....
do you?
-
h22's are gangster motors. Price wise they are affordable for the working man.
-
damn right son!
-
i see alot of not running / fucked up H motors around, and alot of 300k F motors still goin strong, (including my daily i beat the shit out of and drive like i hate it) thats all im sayin

I dare venture the H motors get beat more than the fs as well...
-
Sell the lude to widebody.
-
YEah and then I wont have as much competion with some ka-nook-head that keep his agreement to PM's
-
F23 bottom end with an H22 head.
-
H>G series
-
Do odb0 f22s have the same mounts?
I can source a f22a1.
-
TRANS DOES NOT like the 90-91's H2U5's DO NOT SIR
Motor side I dont know
-
Iv sourced 2 f22s for 400 and a h23 for 600.
I cant decide which one I want now.
-
h23=frm sleeves
f22= iron sleeves
Depends on future outlooks
-

No, just gotta be more careful/conservative with FRM sleeves though. Plenty of people have boosted stock H22s.
-
I build a boosted ghetto h22 setup for a friend who has been running 8lbs on now for over 2 years now. Stock everything except for head studs, and a ebay clutch.
-
This is what Im figuring
I bought the car for 150$ Im now trying to build it cheap and boost it later, so Im probably going to with the f22 but Im still on the edge. :-\
For the F22 I would need
F22=400$
prelude s axels=140$ (They don't use a half shaft and can go into a h22 tranny?)
flywheel=50$
Clutch=150$
h22 Ac bracket=15$
h22 PS pump bracket=15$
total with the car 920$
H23=600$
Would come with ac and ps bracket
Could reuse axels I have
Clutch=150$
total with the car 900$
-
accords use a halfhshaft
-
accords use a halfhshaft
Is it the same one thats on a h22?
-
Yes and NO one is male and other is a female
H22 have a male ended driver side I know for a fact
F22 have the famale side like all normal axles "70% sure
