This thread is for problem solvers only. If you think you know the cure to a societal ill, post it up. Here's an example:
A bum comes up and asks for some spare change, you punch him in the face and tell him to get a job. Supporting a population that is unwilling to work is a greater ill than the "compassion" or "humanitary concerns" that drive people to support the worthless motherfuckers. Also, we start burning the shelters.

College is a journey you have to take on your own. Having it handed to you ends in failure. IMO

instead of welfare, have government run clinics, where you are paid a few thousand dollars to be sterilized. This would prevent people who cannot afford to support a family from reproducing. This would also help to eliminate the career-welfare families that live off the money that the government takes from Johnny at gunpoint. Since some sterilization methods are reversible, there could be another program to have the initial surgury reversed, in exchange for several times the sum of money you were given before.

I disagree. The national statistics are 2/3rds of education is spent - as far as you can track it - on administration aka paying ex-gym teachers to be administrators. Locally we had a 1/2 penny per $100 land tax passed (imposed?) in the late 70s to collect in an account to pay for new Buncombe County schools to be built instead of having to raise bonds for them. Here's the punch line: they keep raising bonds to build county schools, and no one in county government will answer you about where all the money we are taxed on has gone.
I sent my kid to the city school system for a reason. They get all the thug black kids (not a racist comment, black people all over the planet hate African-Americans as a culture and not because of their race), but if your kid is remotely intelligent and/or tries they segregate the classrooms(on merit) and focus most of their effort on those kids. My kid doesn't shine as bright as I do, but believe it or not that's actually a good thing.

Yo its like this. before you graduate fuck an SAT you gotta take a "Did i learn enough to live" test. so we quiz you predominantly on your ability to NOT be a piece of shit. use turn signals, retain a job, use condoms, yada yada that type of shit, common sense type things.
Impose Child support like Wage garnishments if kids are had out of wed lock and if you do get married you have to be tested to see if your smart enough to get the "marriage and Kids" package. You are only allowed to apply for this license once per 15 years.
Also i think punishments for crimes should be like all 16th century n shit. Like if you steal shit and the village hates you well maybe that day we decide that stealing is punishable by death and we stone your ass. The ;Punk ass kid who basses up and down my street all the time is a waste and i dont hitnk Bassing should be punishable by death but i know hes a fuckass and wont amount to shit anyway. Might as well off him now.

you can pour cash into the gaping maw that is public education all you want, but it won't do a bit of good until the culture of "i don't have to pay attention because i'm gonna be on american idol" changes. i think it has less to do with the quality of the education system in general and more to do with the fact that our society most heavily rewards the people who are arguably the least important to society's well-being. who the hell dreams about working at CERN when they can just be an actor and make a fortune pretending to be someone else? the fact that the percentage of people who actually 'make it' is abysmally small is irrelevant- the focus is still on the easy money.
