Title: In case you didn't have enough reasons not to live in AB.
Post by: dvst8r on December 16, 2009, 04:27:46 PM
Yesterday's min temp where I live was -30.8C (-23.4F) the max temp was 3.5C (38.3F). Giving us a nice temp swing of 34.3C (61.7F) all in a 24hr period. Fuck do these chinooks give me headaches too.

Oh and it was cold in the morning, and warm in the afternoon, opposite of what the Texas guys get from time to time.

Handling balls in warm rain? Sounds more like a golden shower.  :P

My car doors keep freezing shut here. I've slathered the jams & seals with silicone spray first, then with silicone grease from my old bushing kit and still sticks. The electronic blinker relay is also lagging it's so cold.

To top it off, they do not use calcium chloride on the roads. Just rock salt and this "red beet" juice they were getting hard for last year. I hate winter here.

Probably for the best, Calcium Chloride is nasty shit and will rust steel like no other. I worked in a place that produces it and one guys job was to go around and spray WD40 on everything in the new building so it wouldn't rust.

It was -36 the day before, the same day that Edmonton was the second coldest place on Earth, at -46c BEFORE factoring in the 15km/hr wind.

I was talking about the Blue Northerners that Texas gets from time to time. Where it will be warm in the afternoon, and then the cold wind from the north comes and drops the temp substantially in a few hrs.
