Planning to see it in 3D within the next week... have heard it lives up to the hype.
-
I'm seeing it tonight @ 10. I'll let you know.
-
Just got back from an IMAX 3D show, it was pretty sweet. The evil marine guy is a fucking badass. An evil badass but still a badass.

Our IMAX doesn't play 3D and I'd have to drive an hour for it...
Just going to see it at a normal screen with 3D.
Is it gimmicky or decent?
-
It's good, hardly any gimmicks really. Some scenes really pop more than others but they don't overdo it.
Sigourney Weaver was in more of the movie than I thought, I thought she'd be a brief cameo but she was a pretty cool character.
-
I'm sick of hearing about that stupid smurf movie :-\

Quit watching TV or listening to the radio or participating in any other advertising-laden activity.
I didn't hear of it til someone mentioned it :/
-
After seeing the preview, I wouldnt pay to go see it.
-
I don't know if it was worth the $15 I payed to see it in IMAX, but it's definitely worth the $5 I usually pay.
-
$15? not bad
at a nice non-IMAX theater that's playing it in 3D:
$17 VIP theater after matinee
$13 VIP theater before matinee
$9.25 non-VIP theater matinee
VIP is just where you have a smaller theater, I think nicer seats, and can get ripped off for alcohol.
-
I'll download it, someone keep your glasses and mail them to me :P
-
Make your own cheap, simple polarized filters. Not gonna be able to use them at home with your equipment though.
-
Eh, could use the ones you get with like 3D dvd's, but I heard sucks nuts compared to theater 3D. A couple more years and we'll all be rocking the 3D TV's
-
Saw it yesterday, one of the most visually stunning movies I've ever seen. The colors mixed with the depth the 3D provided set the benchmark for years to come. Story was pretty decent too.

Yeah, it's a bit different.
The Real3D or whatever shit in the theaters just adds a special polarizing panel and the glasses have polarized glasses to get the two different images.
The 3D tv standard seems to be very high framerate (120hz here, 100hz in PAL places) with glasses that open/close each eye in sync with the screen so you'll get a full 60 frames per second for each eye. Seems like it'd be much better than the old headache-inducing lower-framerate shit using the same tech.
They just decided on the format they'll use for 3D blurays... You'll be able to watch them in 2D or 3D without having to buy separate blurays and I bet Avatar will be the first one released.
I'm more interested in 3D games... Movies typically have one field of depth that's "in focus" and the rest isn't (although I suppose they could change that with CGI shit) and I find it annoying to constantly have to refocus every scene on what was recorded in focus... Games on the other hand are completely in focus (unless they add blur for cinematic effect) and shouldn't have that issue.

Going to see it Saturday at IMAX 3D.
Hope to find what's left of my 2,5-dimethoxy-4-ethylthiophenethylamine stash. Unfortunately, I think I ate the rest at Six Flags :(

Haha, if not it's probably turned to shit by now. Movie def has tripping potential. They played the preview for the new Alice in Wonderland and it looked pretty trippy as well.
-
what a bad ass movie.. it had everything in it... even exxeracial porn!
-
I'm going to watch it tomorrow it's 8$ with glasses I think.
The movie reached 1 Billion in 17 days :?:

Near me its like $10.25 with glasses, and another $4 for a bottle of robitussin coughgels. Or if you're really baller, the movie is $25 with a hit of acid included.
-
There's a special on Tuesday. 5$ instead of 10$ and the glasses are always 3$.
