the fact that you have 1" between the frame rail and the fact you have to hang the motor because the subframe has to come out. also the fact that GM uses bolts twice as long as necessary and puts them in spots that a 6 year old couldnt fit his arm into. i can keep going :P
heres a pic i took with my phone. makeshift engine hanging notice the block on the right that fell out and let the 4x4 fall onto the fender witht he weight of motor/trans on it :-X

Corey, you do know I have an engine hoist right?
hes not taking the engine out Dave, you have to pull the whole x-member out to pull the trans so there is nothing holding the engine in the car (all the mounts are on the x-member/subframe), You have to support the engine so it just hangs there or pull everything out. I have 2 engine cradels, some cars need one some need two.

Not just domestics.. its becoming this way on just about all fwd cars.
I love trannys (the ones without dicks) we have a really nice table jack/lift that we pull subframes out with. I would think doing one on the ground would probably suck ass though.

Im dreading the day when the transmission goes out on my grand prix. American FWD sucks ass, shit all american cars are a bitch to work on.

lickily i had it on a lift, i wouldnt have even attempted it otherwise. in hindsight if i could go back i would have dropped the whole motor/trans assembly as one and then took the tranny off because they buiilt a table for that because they do alot of caddy head gaskets. would have been alot faster.
ive done other GM FWDs like a 3.1 lumina and a 3.8 buick but this is way more of a pain. the tranny is so heavy i cant even lift it off the ground an inch.
they had a cradle at the shop i was using but they had a lincoln on the lift next to it using it because that also had the tranny out. its amazing how similarly gay that lincoln is to my caddy. gotta do all the same shit and even the tranny is similarly shaped.
