L18 Applications:

Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra 2500HD & 3500 (option)
Chevrolet Suburban/GMC Yukon XL (option)
Chevrolet Express 3/4 or 1 ton
Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 (std on GMT800 2500)
T-98 Kombat

It retains the same bore centers as the old 7.4 L big-blocks, but stroke was upped by 9.4 mm to reach 8.1L (496cuin) for a total of 107.95 mm bore and 111 mm stroke. It is an all-iron engine (block and heads) with two valves per cylinder. Power output ranges from 225 hp (168 kW) to 340 horsepower (250 kW) and torque from 350 lb·ft (475 N·m) to 455 lb·ft (617 N·m).

Funny you should say that considering how much they still dominate.

Idiot.

Granted, he LSx engines are pretty much superior in every way to the BBC, but hell the thing was designed in the 50s.

never said they were slow, or make little power. It's just a very old design.  You don't need huge gas sucking cubes to make big power these days.  I'd rather have big power and good MPG.

Oh really?  Show me another 8500hp V8 . Singles don't count, and it needs to go down the track multiple times in one day.

I'm not fucking fat!  :-*  They do drop cylinders, but the fact that they even hold together without slinging shit into the stands (most of the time) is still impressive to me.

It's not an opinion, it was verbal diarrhea that other people have already picked apart and dismissed.

You may hate on 50 year old designs, but if an OEM changes engine designs every 5-6 years then it gets fucking pricey to build them.  Long production runs are the ONLY thing allowing the average guy to build some decently fast shit, so fucking respect 50 year old designs as being a form of awesome and quit being a douche.

Holy shit. Give this guy a medal.

The difference is, when you turbo smaller engines, when you take your foot out of the boost, it's still a smaller engine.

Explain to me how 5.0 Fox chassis netted 35 mpg?

Do you understand bsfc, and gearing?
