I need a program that lets me recover corrupted files from a Windows .bkf file. I keep getting the "there are inconsistencies blahblahblah" error when I try to put the file back on another hard drive. HALP

Give that a shot. Be prepared for it to take a while.
Hopefully the corruption isn't from bad sectors on the HD.

Read there for help on running it.
This one might work as well:

Maybe more explanation=more help.
I had a laptop hard drive. It took a shit. I pulled a backup file off of it that is 46gig. Now, got a new hard drive, but when I go to used the Windows Backup Restore shit, it comes up with the inconsistency on the disk or w/e. I need a way to either fix that, or skip over it and keep restoring the rest of the file to the HD, otherwise, it stops at like 4gigs in. No bueno
-
Fuck. I get to play games with rapidshare till it lets me download
-
It made me wait 67 seconds. :noel:
-
Gay. Damnit. How hard is it to crack the software? Would like to have this shit done and transferred over by tomorrow lol
-
Delete that one, someone stuck a virus in it.
Digging for a clean one now.
I have 2 others coming in. I'll scan them then let you know.
Ok, got a clean one. Uploading it to a site where you can get it. It's precracked already as well.
-
unfortunately when you back up a backup of the file and it happens to be corrupted, you lose a large portion of data. the best way to rebuild it is to use some proprietary software that is designed and built in linux. im sorry i couldnt help further.

I don't want to back up the back up, I want to make it go onto the new hard drive so I can use that hard drive

When I go to use the built in Windows app to put the .bfk file onto the other hard drive, I get this...
Backup Utility: An inconsistency was encountered on the requested media
That shit, and then it just halts the install. Fack.

Okay, it is finding the files on the old drive. What should I do from there once it finds em
-
It should give you the option to save them to a new location.
Look for destination.
Has it made it further then you did before yet?
-
Yeah. So then just put the files somewhere. And then copy them over to the new hard drive? Should I put windows on the new HD first?
-
I'd get them off of that drive, first thing and onto another one.
Once they are off of it, I think there is a set of tools with the program that can thoroughly check and test the old drive. It might still be usable once it's had a full format and the bad clusters have been marked.
Here is the guide to the program:

Let me know how it ends up for ya.
BTW, that's a $500 program.
:noel:
-
Nice man. Thanks!
-
yah on track is mentioned in my data recovery class.
-
Bump for updates.
-
ITT Henry Henries himself.
Well played, sir!
-
Bump for updates.
Shit kept shutting down 24gig into the restore, so I'm trying it again in safe mode
-
Disable everything while it is running.
AV, etc.
With how it digs to recover, most AV programs with hueristic logic flag it and go apeshit.
-
Everything is disabled now :) Hope this works
-
Okay, that shit still didn't work. I have a .bkf file I need to repair, and that will simplify everything. There are .bkf repair programs, but I can't seem to find a torrent for a full version. HALP?

When I go to open the exe, nothing happens.... help?
-
Open the on track program again, go to .zip repair. browse to the .bkf file, on the bottom dropdown, select all files. Select the .bkf file and go.
When it is done, open the newly created file and see if it works. If it still don;t, run it on the new file.
Usually works.

Boot windows up.
When it comes to the logo screen hold shift down until the computer is completely booted up.
hit alt/ctrl/del to bring up the task manager.
Go to processes. Kill everything there. Your desktop will refresh.
Then try running it.
