Title: my rwd crx project CRX2000!
Post by: weirtech on March 07, 2009, 05:22:03 PM
i can't update the "other forum" thread because i've been banned.  oh well.

slightly modified, but all the pics are here.

ok, i've been working on this for a couple years.  i only recently got all 4 wheels back on the car (temporarily so i can move the car because i'm moving shop).  i will update with more detailed pics once things become more permanent.

here is where i started.  1989 crx si that i've owned for 12 years.  2000 ap1 f20c.  s14 jdm rear end with viscous type lsd.  when i bought the drivetrain, it came with the rear end complete, except for the subframe.  i'd researched that the stock s2000 rear ends were not that happy being abused so i was able to sell it all and get the s14 complete rear end for 2/3rds what i sold the s2000 rear for.  more money for the project.

i already had a dh-racing tb so i figured i'd bore the intake for it.

it is now on the ground for the first time in almost 2 years
(http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f161/weirtech/Project%20RWD%20CRX/DSC00764.jpg)

i haven't had a chance to take any recent pics because i'm moving my shop, but once everything is moved i'll get some more pics up.

right now the car is together, because i had to move my shop and put 4 wheels on it to move the car along with everything else.  the engine and rear end are coming out probably early next week so i can use them for an upcoming show i have a booth at.

the rear suspension needs some adjustment because some of my measurements were off, but nothing serious.  also, i'm trying to source some softer springs because the current springs are far too stiff (700lb/in).  i'm looking for something in the 200 range.

You ever check out speedwaymotors as they've got a boatload of different lengths and rates of springs. Maybe they might or maybe not but it's worth a check.

Arron, What kind of springs and shocks are those?  Amazing work as usual.

aaron you can adjust the cantilever ratio to soften your springs..

i was thinking that too, right now it looks like hes at 1:1 ratio. aarron go take a physics lesson

Awesome project. Can't wait to see it run.

i'd researched that the stock s2000 rear ends were not that happy being abused...

They indeed do not. They're made of very fine glass:

The top chunk is the cap. The rest are pinion teeth.

the problem here is that there is not enough stroke in the shock assembly.  i've done some reading (not enough) and i don't think you will be doing much more than changing the travel of the suspension rather than change the spring rate.

for the most part, the car is going to be a street car.  it may evolve into something over time, but once it is complete, i just want to drive it and get re-familiarized with the car.

here are some shots detailing the cross member/subframe and the bottom link steering.

Mr. Weir... how much was your f20c setup if you don't mind my asking?

included in the initial purchase:
ap1 f20c complete with a/c compressor, all accessories
tranny complte with clutch/flywheel, etc.
wiring harness
wrong ecu :P
driveshaft
rear diff, axles, spindles, brakes, control arms, struts (basically the whole rear end except for the subframe and wheels).
cost: $3700.

i sold the rear end for $750

that brings the cost down to $2950

i bought the s14 rear end for $500

back up to $3450

i had bought a spare ap1 engine/tranny and ended up selling it for $1400 because compression was low on cyl's 2 and 4, but i still made a bit of money on it.

i just got a package in the mail from xenocron with my aem ems, 1000cc injectors and competition clutch stage 5 clutch and 11.5lb flywheel.

Aaron, do you have any concerns with flex in the aluminum components?  Do you plan on some sort of heat treatment?  I know that welding makes the aluminum soft.

AWESOME CANUCK PROJECT....!   O0

Wow, its really come far! I like how you decided to use so much aluminum, that's not seen often at all.

THe one issue I see is in the rear suspension. When you look at how it will pull at the top of the shock towers, it could deform some of your aluminum, as well as the frame. The original design spread all the force into the outter area of the tophat, and pushed on that area - yours will be pulling, in addition to some side-loading. If nothing else, I'd put another 2-4 mounts in the design, kinda like those useless trunk x-braces people get.

yeah, that rear suspension is probably going to be completely rebuilt.  i had to get it in the car quick so i could move the car.  i may not modify it much, but will definitely beef it up.  the springs that are in it now are just too stiff.

did a compression check on the engine today finally after 2 years...

1 = 175
2 = 175
3 = 210
4 = 160

also did a leak down test and 1, 2 and 4 are leaking loud enough to hear them.  i'm not an engine guy, but i've had opinions that it needs a valve job and also that it has been a few years since the engine has run, so that may contribute to the poor test... i have no clue.

Over fill it with a bit more oil. Use the starter to crank it for 5-10min then retry.

right now there is no fluid in it at all.  we sprayed a bit of wd40 in the cylinders and the compression seemed to go up a bit.  i suppose it could use some oil in it.

uhh yea, thats a decent idea

does that motor's oil pump run off the crank?
Title: Re: my rwd crx project CRX2000!

any way you can prime it without turning the motor over, like an older dizzy v-8?

good idea if he wants to possibly cook his starter.  i'd rather not take that chance, air tools are much more durable over that timespan

A starters job is to crank. Joe had a d15 that set for years out site. He could not even crank it, they had to use a super big pipe to brake her lose, same motor put out 205hp non intercooled, also ran a 12.2 if I remember right. Need less to say dump some oil in her and crank over by hand then with either air/ power/ or starter power.

i had a pontiac 400 that had sit for god knows how long and it was seized.  we dumped a gallon of kerosene down the IM, came back a month later, put it in gear and pushed it and the fan moved.  changed the oil, started and ran like a champ

IF that engine had the ability, i would prim the oiling system by just rotating the oil pump, then install everthing except the plug wires and the fuel pump fuse and build oil pressure with the starter for a bit.  i think that woudl be the safest route.  but it doens't look like thats possible

You can prime the pump, but it's a major PITA. You have to pull the crank pulley, chain covers, chain, etc to unchain it from the crank. It does run off of its own small chain, but it's behind the timing chain.

You could just get a pump and plumb into the oil pressure switch.  It wouldn't be that difficult.

The mystery jdm smoke. I agree I have gotten plenty of jdm motors that on start up were hardly beauties. After a couple hard runs the mystery jdm smoke goes away and they run fine. I agree just throw it in.

you mean no fluid in the cylinder at all....right? of course you do....you must

fwiw, when i picked up my 92 si it had been sitting outside behind a casino for 2+ years.
- Changed oil to royal purple, pulled plugs put some oil in each cyl.
- let sit for about an hour and then put in a bit more.
- craked it loose by hand then cranked the starter till the oil light went out on the dash.
- reassembled and she fired right up smoked lots then cleaned up not long after.

not sure why your compression numbers would vary like that... how many revolutions did you do during the test?   Is there any way you can run it for a while then recheck the comp?  I realize that might be a dumb question given the photos.

this probably isn't update worthy, but its something.  a little while ago my suspension guru friend came over and we figured out the suspension travel to spring travel ratio.  i can't even remember what it's called... sprung rate or something like that.  that's why he's the guru and i'm just a welder with tools.

you setup two indicators.  one on the rotor where the wheel mounts and the other on the strut mounting point.  then you raise and lower the wheel through it's suspension travel and check to see what the numbers do.  for mine they stayed the same, so the ratio is 1:1.  this makes tuning the suspension a bit easier since there is less math involved.

anyway, here are some pics and how we did it.

things are kinda quiet at the shop this week, so i had some time to do some work.  the tranny tunnel framework is all tacked together... some of it welded at the front.  i just need to make the tranny mount, then i can pull it out and weld it all up, then cover in sheet metal and weld that all up, then i can put it back in, weld it and start on the drive shaft tunnel which won't be as high.  yeah, i know the camera sucks.

With the transmission tunnel being so high the shifter should be at a great hight and if you set it up you can rest your arm on the tunnel of the driveline. Ive driven a few s2000's and I love the shifter hight and how close it is to the stearing wheel.

what for a waste :?:

I see this car doing better in a road race than built fwd crx. I bet it will have a better dist. of weight vs the fwd setup. If he can get all of the suspention stuff setup right it will handle great.

actually, the weight distribution should be pretty good... although a bit heavier than an oem crx, the fwd setup has the whole engine/tranny between the front wheels.  the tranny on this setup will sit behind them giving the car a much better center of gravity.  but yeah, i don't really know how the car is going to handle until i get it on the road.  the car is not being built for drag, it is being built for the street first and foremost.  i may drag it, drift it, autocross it or time attack it... they way i see it, the car will be able to do just about anything i want it to.  as long as it puts a smile on my face, i won't care.

I know it would put one on mine. On another note I realy wish that the 97-01 preludes were rear wheel drive. They just look like a rear wheel drive car.

Awesome.. An update. Sucks about the gas/brake pedal issue. But the craftsmanship on the tunnel is top notch. How are you going to work the trans mount?

PS; Why the fuck isnt this stickied?

Why did you go so heavy duty on the trans tunnel?  Some bent sheet metal would saved some weight and money...

This is what's so great about this build, this car can do pretty much anything and be very good at it. I'd expect this to thrash people in autox and even lap days on a bigger circuit. I'm sure suspension set up will take some time to get right but that's fun stuff.

ps. super jealous of your fab skills, fucken dope.

Why did you go so heavy duty on the trans tunnel?  Some bent sheet metal would saved some weight and money...

because i value life.  removing that section of the original exhaust tunnel is like taking out a key structural portion of the car.  if i were to get into any kind of collision, a plain sheet metal tunnel would fold up like paper without proper reinforcement.  you have to remember, i still have to cut out the e-brake section too for the driveshaft... basically i'm cutting the belly of the car in half.  without some sort of rigid support it would make it pretty weak and prone to flexing.  eventually there will probably be a cage put in, but not right away.  also, keep in mind the tranny mount is part of the tunnel as well, so it needs to atleast hold the ass end of the drivetrain without moving excessively.

i don't think weight will be much of a factor in a car that is 2100lbs to begin with and is going to have 450whp on tap.

as for saving money, $25 worth of steel is a good investment for piece of mind.

the tranny tunnel is complete.  for now it is just tacked in place.  i want to pull the mockup drivetrain out to weld it in fully.  i'm going to have to patch up a couple spots where there are small gaps, but i don't think it is too serious.

i threw the dash and the steering wheel back in just for reference.  if i can modify the center console to fit over the tunnel, i will.

not much of an update, but the tunnel is 99% welded in.  i've been doing some body work on smoothing out the engine bay.  i really dislike doing this stuff.  i'm not very good with bondo, but here is the bay all primed up.  i still need to smooth over a couple spots, then the primer sealer will go on and some paint.  i'm planning on further reinforcing the firewall once the paint is dry.

well, i didn't get as much done as i had hoped this weekend.  i'm out of mix gas for the mig, so i was stuck having to tig everything which was ok for control, but very time consuming.

i trimmed the rear bottom section of the trunk off since it isn't going to be used and i welded a small 1/2" by 3/4" rectangular 1/6" wall tube across the back.

tig welding this thing all the way across took just way to long.  i gotta get some mig gas on monday.

here is the inside view.  a flat piece of sheet metal will line up with the bottom of the tube bar which should make for an easy patch for the big hole in the trunk.

here is the driver's side wheel arch about 95% complete.

tig welding this in was a real bitch.  i cut and fit the pieces, then tacked them altogether in the car and then pulled it out and welded all the way around and stuck it back in the car so i could weld it in.

here is the wheel well view.  this isn't a very good pic... you can't really see much of the welds

update time.  this shit is still warm.

rear frame work is complete.  i just need to cut some sheet and weld it in there to cover the hole.  it is going to be flat, so it should be pretty basic.  once that is done, then the hand brake section of the tunnel will be raised for the driveshaft.  that should take care of all the serious fab work.

the front is no biggie because the new subframe was made from a jig that was made off the oem subframe.

the rear, i got luck on (and was actually easier than the front).  i haven't posted pictures yet, but there are two small plates bolted into the pivot bushing mounting points from the original trailing arms.  those plates have the holes in them that the s14 rear subframe is bolted into.  because they are mounted symmetrically in the frame rails of the car, i just made the plates a mirror image of each other.  that takes care of making the rear end straight in 2 axis and also centers it from side to side.  the 3 axis is a no brainer.  i just had to make it somewhat level at the rear of the subframe.  i made the 2" square cross piece that it bolts into, bolted it onto the subframe, then welded the bar into the frame rails at the back.  there was no need to do any plumb bobbing or anything like that.

i've got a couple buddies working on the wiring.  i don't have the patience or probably the mental capacity to map out all this shit.  here is the beginning anyway.  it'll be much cleaner once it is all done.  they do shit oldschool with a candle instead of a heat gun for the shrink tubing.

that was a mistake i had done when the car was painted the second year i owned it (1997).  i also had the door handles and the washer nozzles shaved.  i'd love to replace the quarters with some oem ones, but i don't think i'd find any in as good a shape as mine unless i bought them new.

i think i would fully mock up the car before paint. if you still have to fab turbo stuff things could get scratched.

i personally never liked spot putty.  i'm probably retarded, but i always just had better luck using straight up bondo and taking longer that way sanding

spot putty is perfectly fine in small amounts. if you try to use it to fill something too big, it shrinks and takes forever to dry.

viscous type.

The s14 is the better choice considering strength & replacement cost.  The lockup won't be as aggressive as a geared or clutch type, but it'll still do the job as long as the fluid is still viable.  Hopefully it didn't come out of a m4d JDM drifter-mobile.  They tend to overheat those viscous diffs and gum it up.

This is looking very, very nice.  Being a perfectionist will pay off.

I agree about mocking everything up before painting. I've learned the hard way. I swear I think if I don't paint something then it will work fine, if I paint it then something will be off and I'll have to redo it.

Sick build BTW. I guess that's the entire s14 subframe. Looks good.

the transmission should be ok for the 450-500 i'm after.  you can research it a bit on www.s2ki.com (http://) or www.s2kca.com (http://)  keep in mind my car will probably end up lighter than an s2k, so that may help with the strain on it.  as long as i don't do too many hard launches i should be ok.  i imagine without slicks it is just going to spin anyway and not hook up good enough to have much impact.  maybe i'll have to push it and see how long it will last.  i do have a spare that i can rebuild as well if i need to.

for him to do something like that there would have to be an X amount of people that wanted it and paid up front. and would prolly be expensive. and you'd still have to install rear end and suspension on your own and hack up your car.

i'm going on vacation for a week starting thursday.  i should have an update when i get back.  the driveshaft is out right now being made and i should get my lines/fittings for the brakes/fuel lines when i get back.  fuel cell is started, just need to weld bungs on, mount it and figure out what i want to do for a fuel level sender.  i'm probably going to go with the autometer setup.

with all that square in the rear i think maybe even close to 55/45?
Title: Re: my rwd crx project CRX2000!
Post by: weirtech on March 02, 2010, 05:52:15 PM
it is hard to say really.  there is probably more weight in tubing in the tranny tunnel than the rear end.  also, keep in mind there is going to be a heavy turbo setup over the front wheels as well.  but yeah, normally on a ff, the tranny is in front of the wheels.  with this it is behind the firewall.  the s14 rear end is surprisingly heavy and i don't have the axles or brakes in it yet.  i'm hoping to keep the weight somewhere around 2300lbs with the range you suggest, 55% front, 45% rear.  i've got 245 tires for the rear and 205's for the front on order also.  once they arrive, i'll be looking for wheels with the right offset.

viscous type.

Hell yeah we pop vlsd's...  That's why i run a welded...had a 4.30 2 way but sold it last month.....

J30 diffs are pretty good and they can be shimmed so no worries.

This build is fucking awesome!

Wasn't the fix for the pintos was some kind of quick disconnect that keeps the fuel in the tank if hit in the rear end.

Mustangs still have there gastanks behind the rearend and near the rear bumper.

If you are behind most of them you can see the fuel tanks as part of the bottom of the car.

my father in law (who is also my business partner) is great at making little brackets and all sorts of odd little pieces.  i had him make this up because the engine sits too close to the firewall, the sensor needs to point down.

yes, it is just the angle of the pic.  it will clear.  if it is tight, i will pull the stud and bolt it.

i wanted the fuel tank as big as i could get because this is going to be a street car and i will probably go on the occasional road trip with it.  according to my calculations it should be around 50L i believe.  i may actually add a couple straps running under it from side to side.

well, this guy is no different. i just cannot afford the time to deal with unreliable and disrespectful people. he didn't come back to do the paint and didn't feel it important enough to call or send an email to let me know what's up. i've already got a friend i trust getting me some paint. i'll pick up a gun and do it myself.

the shitty part for him is that now he owes me $600 for a turbo manifold for his bike if he wants it back. the original agreement was for him to paint the bay and floor inside in exchange for a turbo setup on his bike. a pretty good deal considering i had already done all the fill work on the bay. all he's done to this point is sand/clean it and spray some primer.

question:  should i paint the floor inside white like the engine bay, or black with rocker guard or something?... i'm not going to be able to get the carpet back in it for obvious reasons.

I can't see the pics at work , but you could section the carpet if you really wanted.

Cut out the tunnel area of the carpet

cover the tunnel in Sub box material  and rock on (if you want)

I stripped and painted my floors white - then clear'd them. A ton of work - but looks good ..and this is your "Shop" car.  If I had more time I would come out and help Dustin.

Just curious why you chose that particular location for the battery.  I know that's a tiny, much lighter battery than the typical one (Odyssey PC680?), but just seems kind of odd to have any bit of weight at the corner of the car :D

Can't wait to see this done.

yeah, i know.  i just don't want to put it in the cabin... (it is getting a rear seat).  i want to keep the engine bay clean too, so in the fender it goes.  all the wiring is on that side of the bay, so that keeps it simple.

You can have a carpet kit buit at an upholstery shop. We do it often with 30's and 40's cars with firewall and floor mods.

Bedliner would add way to much wieght.
Por-15 doesn't stick to good metal,only rust.
Could def build your own carpet kit tho.
Pro tip: a steamer will help form the carpet around the tunnel. And don't try to build in 1 piece.

Sonem/Suja 1 Motoring hydro conversion.

I like it with the exception of one thing.  I had to adjust the master cylinder out all the way to get some semblence of "normal" pedal height, and it's still not enough.  Pedal engages at the very top.  Not a bad thing, I suppose, but annoying.  Could just be my setup or master cylinder.  I'd try to extend the rod or something if it wasn't such a pain in the ass to get to.

i'm pretty confident the twin mc setup will hold up just fine.  the same setup is in the twin charged civic that i did.  they've had the setup for a couple years now and regularily beat on the car with no issues.

so, i got me some arp extended studs and popped 'em in.  the fronts are pretty standard, but because i'm going with the 4x100 949racing wheels i had to modify the rear hubs and rotors.

Paint the hood and fenders too. Problem solved? The vinyl wrap is extra weight too. How much is weight is paint going to add, 3-4 pounds?

An Aluminum exhaust would have been more fitting with the theme of the car, but I'm sure that will do the trick.

And aluminum sinks energy too well.  Keep the heat in, push it out the pipe not through it.

I have a pretty thick walled aluminum exhaust.  Think about what you just typed niggle... After the pulses make there way through the turbine... restriction is the only concern, not the endo/exothermic properties of the fucking exhaust pipe material  ;O)

And I do agree Aluminum exhausts tend to be louder... Then again mine is 4" and stops right below the rear seat... HAHAHHA

My car sounds better than Alex or Mitches did with 4" Aluminum exhausts with the mufflers at the end of the system, then again the material they used was WAYYYYYYY fucking thinner too. Both of theirs ran all the way out the rear too...

I have a 4" Magnaflow "race core" muffler right under my shifter...

sorry guys.  i'm having to send my injectors back to injector dynamics for testing.  i ordered the same time with another friend and his were no good so he sent them back and they tested them and then sent him a new set.

the bs part of it is i have to pay for the testing and only get a refund if they turn out to be no good... even though they fall within the serial number range of known to be questionable (but never recalled) injectors.

that is a fail for injector dynamics in my books.

yeah, i couldn't stop laughing at how effortlessly the back end wants to get loose.  traction is going to be a serious issue.  i think some fatter slicks will be required for the rear on track days.  i have a half bar spring in the wg and haven't even cracked it open yet.  i'm definitely not going to put more boost in it than that.  i won't be able to use it.  there are still a few small issues i need to work out.  the rear suspension squats more than 2" under acceleration so i need to lift the back end up a bit.  that is easy enough to do though.  there are also a few rattles i need to get rid of.

thanks guys,
aaron

i do want the back end to squat to help with traction.  the tires are 225/40/15 rs3's.  i may need to get some 275 hoosiers for track days.

yeah, it doesn't take much throttle to spin the tires.  just tapping it mid turn makes it swing like that.  it is going to take some time before i get comfortable enough with the handling before i start doing some serious hooning.  maybe in a big empty parking lot.  it loses traction at will, but regains it almost as quickly when you let off the throttle.  i need to learn the finer points of feathering the throttle.  it has been more than 5 years since i've driven this car (or any other manual for that matter) and it was fwd with considerably less power.  i don't know if i'll ever get the wg to open at 8 pounds...  if i do it wouldn't be for very long.

this car went into a ditch in july.  i'm not concerned at all, it is just a car.  I built this car to beat on it on the regular.  it isn't a trailer queen and it isn't strictly a weekend toy.  it is a any day of the week go to work or pick up the kids from school kinda car.  if it gets ruined by someone else smashing into it, as long as I can walk away i'm ok with that.  the work I put into it was about the process more than the end result... there never is an end result.  it constantly evolves and changes, just the same way you constantly learn and develop new skills.  the process is the key.  if you reach an end result you have missed the point imo.  i'm currently making changes and hope to have it out in late may.

How do you like the RS3 tires?

Did the ditch fuck the car up?  Its ok I assume?

I dont think I've ever completed one build either.  Haha.  Good way to sum it up. Glad you arent afraid to drive it, I respect that a lot.

Post by: weirtech on April 09, 2014, 09:39:49 AM
the rs3's are fantastic value.  you aren't going to get a better tire for that little money.

as a result of the ditch excursion:
1. all 4 rear subframe bushings were destroyed (now replaced with prothane bushings)
2. fuel tank was dinged up and had come disconnected at the fill neck tube- I scrapped it and am building a new one to be placed in front of the rear end.
3. the only cosmetic damage was the drivers side rear quarter has a dent and the tail light was damaged.  i'm in the process of fixing it and I plan to flare the fenders a bit as well to spread the rear tires a bit.
4. the exhaust has some minor dents, but I will be building a new one without a cat or a resonator.

So did the ass end come out and place itself int the ditch? That was the only problem I ever had with my crx is it felt like the wheelbase was a few inches shorter than it should have been. But I'm glad to hear that the car wasn't destroyed.

here is the modified slave to make it fit.  I made the mistake of making the tunnel without it installed on the transmission, so I had to move access to the bleed fitting.

ok, here is the rear suspension version 2.0.  it has since been modified to 3.0 because the rocker angle on this was incorrect and did not allow the strut proper compression.  i'm glad I decided to make this bolt in so modification is not too difficult.

you can see here where the rocker connects to the strut assembly that it is too far over the mount point on the cross bar.  it was modified to sit behind it so compression begins on the outside of the cross bar mount point and finishes on the inside.

this was after the alignment was done.  only .02" of bumpsteer!

UKDM rear seat that I picked up off ebay for a good price.  it was in excellent condition with no tears or scratches.  the kids can go for rides too!

rear suspension clears the interior hatch cover for a stealth look when parked on the street:

next up I added a meziere electric water pump.  might as well make a cover for the factory pump and get rid of the pulley to clean things up:

but again, I didn't leave it like this either, I ended up going for a cleaner look by ditching the factory tensioner and idler pulleys and just making the belt shorter:

so I got thinking and realized I don't actually even need the water pump housing at all.  it is just a big heavy casting I can get rid of (along with the block off plate I had made, so I went to water pump mod 3.0 by removing the housing and cnc machining up a simple thermostat housing that bolts directly to the block:

I love cnc billet.  it seems to have much more meaning when you draw it up, set it up, program and machine it yourself.

finished with a 1/16" endmill:

so, much has happened in the past few months.  had the opportunity to do some testing last night at a local track.  the car really needs a better tune.  it does not appear to be tuned for midrange driving.  balance throttle through turns is a challenge with it being so twitchy.  anyway, it handles much better than i was expecting.  i didn't push it too hard the first time out.  my goal was to not wreck it and to get comfortable with the brakes and coming out of turns.  it works well and i look forward to pushing it to the edge of its limits in the future.

yeah yeah yeah.  i'm by no means a purist.  i like the darked out look.  white headlights/corners would work on a white car imo, but this car is not white.  i'm surprised you guys aren't bitching about the big vibrant stickers on it and what not.  fact of the matter is, these headlights are cheaper than finding a decent shape pair of stockers.  plus they are lighter, so they actually make more fast.

the pump is just 3 stage.  2 scavenge on the pan should be enough.  i should get a small amount of vacuum drawing oil vapor out of the valve cover through the -8an fitting on top that is tied into the strut tower bar and drains back to the tank.  the breather is on the passenger side of the bar between the strut tower and the windshield wiper motor.

the trans tunnel does get a bit warm, but not uncomfortable.  i'm adding a heater core so that may increase cabin temps slightly.  i will put a valve in the system though to run it.

Long over due update.  Car has sat since 2017.  My son is pressuring me to get this running again.  It needs some love so I will be replacing the fuel, coolant, intercooler and exhaust systems and doing some wiring installing some new bells and whistles.  Spent 1.5 hrs pulling everything out after work yesterday:
