-
Awesome
One Lap of America!!!
I hope this guy does some kind of blog about the fun he is having. ;D
-
very nice work agian!
-
Nice attentino to detail, Aaron what are you going to use to brace the turbo? It's sitting so far away, you would think the leverage its creating might cause problems at the head.
-
(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fc1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com%2Fimages02%2F135%2Fl_5cc5fb5406024186bfd448d6f1a49258.jpg&hash=d5ef3cf9eaec3d136539019109d1cef9eb5e6892)
It looks like he has a brace to support the weight of the turbo, going from the tranny to maybe the compressor housing... you're right though, two v-bands alone ain't gonna hold the weight of a turbo w/o it moving around.
What I want to know is how you get into tight spots with that massive torch?
-
yes, the "y" pipe is braced to the tranny. originally he didn't want anything, i had to talk him into adding something. there is also a brace on the downpipe in the factory spot after the oilpan before the flex. will post more pics, just about to pull it out now.
as for the torch, the one in the pic is a #8 cup, i use that for the head flange and other joints like that. for butt joints, i use a #12. for tight spots though, i have a smaller gas lense and use a long #8 cup. i'll have to get pics up.
-
Very cool, I hope that the jrsc isnt a bottlneck, but at any rate it should rip!

If it the m46 it probably will but if it is the M62 or larger then it should work well.
-
But the m62 wont bolt to the jrsc intake mani will it?

With some adapter work and/or porting. ;D

Car looks like it will be tons of fun. Great fab work as usual O0

Seen it in person.

Oval DP is awesome.

-
hahaha that's rediculous
-
I don't know if its just the pictures but that turbo looks to be at a pretty good angle. Your generally not supposed to go above a 15 deg angle before it starts having oil draining issues. I ran into that problem on my Twin turbo kit
-
vids =( looks beautiful
-
a fucking work of art
-
To bad this is on a Y8 and not a Z6 :-\
-
nice, ill finally get to see your work in person.
one lap starts here in south bend at tire rack, its about 10 min form my house.
last year there was only one honda, and it was an old 4th gen four door.
-
Southbend indiana.... I thought buk was the only one kinda close to me...
-
the turbo is on an angle, but that is what he wanted in order to run a filter. i think it should be ok. i don't think it is more than 10-12 degrees.
-
OH my GOD DUDE!!! I WILL TRADE YOU MY WIFE FOR THE WEEK IF YOU DO SOME SHIT FOR MY REX AT HALF OFF!! SO BEAUTIFUL!!! LOL
-
Is that all 16ga?
-
Fucking amazing work!
-
Looks good aaron. How do you think this will hold up with it being thin wall?
-
yes, it is all 16g. i'm confident it will hold up, although i'd like to see a better support brace on the turbo end. i guess the one lap event will be a good test.
-
Only 2 things I'd change would be a divided turbine and a SC bypass valve. At higher RPM's the SC will start to really kill power if it's still compressing. Even at 6psi, it's still not a marvel of efficiency. One note is his theories seem to be based on turbo or SC alone - IAT's and backpressure will be big factors. If boost stays compounded, he'll also only be running the gt35 at a PR of 1.6, or ~9psi. That's at the bottom end of it's peak efficiency islands.
Anyways that's not your problem Aaron, as usual you have the best shit that could be made. Not only is it eye candy, but functional too. It's still fucking awsome to see someone so serious about a dual-charge setup regardless how it works. The few I've seen that were done even half-assed (reddevil lol) had awsome results.
-
looks like an awesome waste of someones money nice fab work
-
Fuck you weir. I hate you so god damn much! You make me so damn jealous but I love your work to death :'( :-*
-
Southbend indiana.... I thought buk was the only one kinda close to me...
fo show
-
pretty fucking slick! i do see the need of support bracing in your future though... im gonna guess that it vibrates like a mother fucker, and the least likely weld to break is gonna crack, not on the weld but on the material right next to the weld.

+1
-
I'm feeling that wastegate exit with the entirety of my soul.
-
There is sooo much win on your end Aaron it makes me want to vomit! Absolutley amazing! I love twin charging, if you pick up the new dsport there's a lotus in there a buddy of mine built that is ridiculous, with a turbo and supercharger as well!
-
hey can we be friends aaron?

oh, of course.
and wier, is one of these guys related to you??
-
no, the same last name is sheer coincedence.
-
Well, just left there. Got some video and pics. None under the hood though. Jon wier wasn't around and the other dude seemed like he didn't want to be bothered. Hopefully when they come back for the dry skidpad next weekend.

-
what wheels are those? And what it the tire size?
-
def a cool setup, but sweet jesus does the car need that many stickers? So many stickers it doesnt need a paintjob
-
dunno, like i said, not very friendly
ya, most of the cars are all stickered up, sponsors and shit
-
Those wheels are the same as one of the cars here at the shop, Goforth says he thinks they are a Works knockoff? I don't know, I don't pay attention to that ricer shit.
-
hey can we be friends aaron?
only if you can name the two girls in your sig pic.
nope i cant i found that on google search. i figure even if i dont say anything my posts are not totally worthless
-

They look like 949 Racing 6UL wheels to me. No idea if they are a knock off of anything or not though. Don't care either, but they are pretty light and inexpensive.
-
those dudes are currently in 8th place overall, just behind an Evo.
-
How big's the field?
-
68 cars
-
Yeah they got pulled over with a warning.
And given a business car from the cop for a copy of the magazine if the picture.
(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fenmoracing.files.wordpress.com%2F2010%2F05%2Fimg_1183-medium1.jpg%3Fw%3D655%26amp%3Bh%3D436&hash=48ffe349376923179183d3c36b90a48d3a218235)
-
8th out of 68 isn't shabby, when do they finish up?
-
i believe today is the last event (dry skid pad). the should end up in at least 8th since they placed 3rd in the wet skid pad. i'd say not too fucking bad for a couple first time one lappers in an economy class car.
i'm just proud my shit has held up to the beating these guys have laid down on it. just proof that a 16g turbo mani isn't a terrible idea.
-
Yup, 8th place. Didn't get to see them yesterday, but it wasn't exactly a dry skidpad. Damn at best, and windy as hell.
Ya, the only way to win seems to be to have a Porsche gt2 or 3. They allways dominate.
-
Cool fucking car!
yes those are 949 6ul's Those wheels are cool because they come in crazy sizes like 15x9 4x100 and good offsets, and they are cheap.
-

Weir publicity like that I do not see affording to close up shop within next year.
I hope you can keep up with the demand for fab skills that this car will probably bring to you.
Congrats mang. ;D ;D

got to ride in the car today at mosport... thing is nuts, and will and jon are both very very competent drivers that push the car to the ragged edge. they pull 1:35 lap times consitently with two people in it and the air to water intercooler setup not running.
here is a short clip of the enmo civic coming through the final turn:

very impressive!! ;D

Damn thats nuts!

question, (this is coming from someone who has never welded with electricity)
what does back purging do for your weld.
-
question, (this is coming from someone who has never welded with electricity)

It keeps the atmosphere from contaminating the backside of the weld.
-
ok i figured it was something like that.

Sounds mean as fuck in the video
-
damn, just damn
-
very nice :noel:
-
its nice to see a civic that actually makes use of the aero pieces it has on it

If you guys remember, this is Aaron Weir's masterpiece of a turbo manifold. It's made of 16g for weight savings, but i've been finding the work hardening over the heat cycles has been resulting in cracking. Fast, and just reliable enough is the idea...
This years route covers 3380 miles in 7 days and 10 race tracks including VIR and Daytona.
(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fonelapofamerica.com%2Fimages%2Fhistory%2F2013%2F2013route.jpg&hash=d2390e54e9385f38167cd1c55ffb812c5fd00e37)
We've got some decent competition in Economy class too. Clemson hatch has a K24 turbo and Andy Hollis is back in his K24 CRX. We're pretty confident our single cam will be able to holds it's own against those setups though.
-
FAKLAD :noel:
And good luck, like to this up close, but unfortunately I live too fat to the west. :-\
Luv to see a larger supercharger on that bad boy. :noel:

Sooo badass!

I'm in Asheville, NC, if you have any mechanical issues and can't find a better offer of shop space or roadside assistance when you come into my area. Three bay with room to move, a four post lift, and drive on lift in the dyno bay (above ground install).

Roadside assistance comes with an "old fashioned." It's worth the shame of getting one from a skinny bald man

come into my area.

With sexy ass parts like this i would hope not!
Everything about that car is function over fashion. I like it. I like it alot. Nice driving!
