Title: D16z6 Turbo (NSFW) 8/14/10 RIPPERS INSIDE (4 vids)!!!
Post by: Cooljnateman on July 21, 2010, 09:33:17 PM: As you know round 1 went ok.....to say the least, had a LS turbo Integra blew it up within 24hours!!!! Then I figured my way around some shit and we worked it out and on 6lbs made 225whp!!!! Yay. This time im going stock d16z6 and im going for some powah! at least for a D series motor thats stock.

So im trying to do this kit on the cheap cheap but not full :mexi: cheap, more like, ill buy half my groceries from "price right" and the other half from "Shaws". But with some finesse, and with some added experience points and to me alot more wisdom this car/turbod should go, much smoother!

The day we did the build it was a torrential down poor of huge golf ball sized raindrops but fortunately I put together that little camo tent and thinks worked out.

Although getting even more soaked didnt help, but at least we werent dieing of heat. It was actually a fun build though.

So one more year of football to develop etc I will be good to go. Looking at Duquesne, William and Mary, Richmond, Robert Morris, Kent State and a few others. Ill make my descision in the winter because ill start college second semester and get ready for spring ball.

The wastegate spring is only running 5psi but i have a 1st to 2nd gear pull video that youll be able to see it was kind of up hill coming onto this bridge. It's ok. But im running the stock ecu with stock injectors not even a basemap, so I didnt wana do anything more then that very quickly even though it was on a strict 5psi. Right now I have a lot of pictures for you for the day rippers will come tomorrow with the final tune on 10lbs!

Eventually we moved onto the drivers side of the charge piping. It worked out nice, its a pretty clean and tight setup IMO.

So i tried putting washers in there. 4 thick washers probably abount an inch thick of washers and it jumps up to 5psi.....Ugh, such a let down. I need a boost controller pronto! 8 and a half more hours till the tune, this day cant go any slower. Quick rant, this turbo is to big for this motor it seems, it spools so SLOW and late, also im starting to rethink if I should have even but such a light flywheel in the car. But, my thinking was if the engine revs faster it would compensate for the lost weight, who knows. I think im going to set the rev limit to 8k though....anyone what to convince me not to?

It went really good...simple street tune on Crome 9lbs tapers and settles at 7.5lbs thats the best i could do with no boost controller, the tune itself in car driving time probably took between 35-45 minutes. Only problem we ran into was putting the Prescsion injectors on and fitting them into the Z6 manifold, as the head of the injectors were to wide so we had to grind them down a bit. Once we got that and setup things went great Rippers below. Dont mind the quality as for some of them i was trying to drive shift and film all at same time, and Marc was trying to hold his computer and film at the same time on one as well. Overall A+++ in my book!

I use 75# Delphi/Precision inj. and never had to grind on any thing. I lubed up the o-ring w/ dielectric grease for the fuel rail end. (no leaks)

The IM ends I keep the big o-rings (that came with them) on, lube and worked the stock IM seals on. Then insert the injectors and rail assembly into the IM.

Then bolted everything together. No fuel, vac., or boost leaks. ;D

and i only have driven the car twice cuz i had to come down to virginia for school football etc....but clutch was doing great during the tune no slippage at all, bov no issues at all...and who took the pics of me on my hood...yeh thought so
