Title: someone made a RHMT piston ring filer?
Post by: walter on August 06, 2010, 07:48:06 AM
what title says, im looking for one piston ring grinder for good prices but shipiping to Europe are crazy (ive find even the shipping cost for pistons!) so i was wondering if someone make a realhomemade piston ring grinder for gap rings.

another question is what gap i should give to new piston rings to my new setup (vitara/eagle on Z6) i'd use it for drag and road racing.

any help?

Thanks

I just use a little file for like $1.00usd

Its easy on most honda ring. Usually I only have to file a little just make sure you file in both directions and in small increments at a time.

Walter I have what you need but I have a problem, I asked you for some help with getting a vti tach or whole cluster. You told me to basically fuck off because you couldn't be bothered. well guess what princess.

A dremel works just fine.

Just make sure to deburr all 4 edges, to file it straight, and don't chip the ring edges. You could take a larger c-channel or 2 angle iron chunks, drill holes in them, weld them to a plate, and insert a arbor adapter for a thin grinding disc. Since it's such a small job, it's really not worth it. Instead I spent $25 on a Summit piece of junk that got the job done cleanly & quickly. Looks like they aren't so cheap now, so I'd suggest using a small needle file.
