Well I have been putting parts together for a while now and thing are falling inline. Got my block back from the shop a few weeks ago.......

I got my bearings from majestic. I was gona use the acl's but it was too much extra money/work.

Well got the bearings in and they all fit very well and are in specs. SO now I hade to hone the small end of the TT rods to get my pison pins to fit. Witch is normal.

mounted the drill in the vice.
I did it a few differant times to make sure that I didnt get in there and just go overboard with it.

Now that the lower end was done it was assmbled, it was time to do the top end.

Pulled the head out and stripped it clean of all the internmals

So the I took the lapper and put it on the grinder and chucked it into my drill.

turned out pretty good SO I put the spring seats back in and put the new valve stem seals in.

So I striped it back down to repaint low gloss black like the block.
While I was wating for it to dry I checked out the oil pump and it was withing spec. so I painted it

something is screwed up with the clutch that I got from LSD???? The sprung center section from the p.plate hits the clutch disk and it wonte let my cluth disingage/engage??? I have already sent them a pm, and a email. Here are the pics......

Turns out that mike at lsd had someone other than the normal clutch builder build a few of his clutches and the pp center would hit the disk springs when you pushed in the clutch. So he shipped me one that was good. Keep an eye out for some more updates. :yes:

So mike at lsd took care of the clutch and I now have about 1200miled on it. I did a comp check the other day and its 175 across the board. I took it to the track last summer and it rar a 15.1@ 91mph. Not bad for some 2.3 60' and 8.0:1 compres.

It was some paint I picked up at the auto parts store. It was LOW gloss black. Not flat. I will update this tread later today when I get home. I have a few new pics. Im almost done turboing it

No, Im using the street disk. I orderd the dragger clutch w/street disk from him, he sent the 6 puck disk for a 92-00 b trans, I sent it back, got the dragger disk for a 90-91, it fit but the clutch fingers hit where the springs on the disk are , and then he sent me a anther street disk that fit. :o
I love it, its a cable trans and it feels great. I didn realy want to step up to the 6puck and the street disk with the dragger clutch hold 332 ft/lb Torque. If I have that much torque Ill be happy.....lol That should put me well over 400hp at the wheels witch is about 50hp over my goal

I've never rebuilt a Honda motor, or even a FI (been around carbs), but I have a D15 I wanna rebuild for a DD, and what I wanna know is, do you have to do anything with the ECU? What I mean by that is, can you just unplug/plug it back in, and it will run like new?

Shouldnt have to do anything as long as you dont go making any huge changes to cams or injectors.

stock cam is fine. just put the injectors in. Dont go geting them flow tested. IMO its a waste of money for just a stock setup.

SO the car now has 1200 or so miles on it. It runs tip top. About 36ish mpg on the hwy, and 25 in town. 4 months ago I switched it over to obd1 chiped the po6, and all that jazz. I then pulled it back in to the garage about a month ago, swaped to some hasport mounts I traded for some parts, and to do a wire tuck. :-X I wil never ever do such a thing again. It was the bigest pain in the ass, and a big waste of time. It looks really nice though....lol Still have some cleaning of the bay to do.
So im working on this thing at about the rate of 2 hours a day. It is taking forever to do all this. But I picked up a splog from randy (evilli140) thing looks great.

So now im on the hunt for a new radiator. I dont realy want to run my halfcore due to the fact that im gona have to gangster lean the hell out of it to make it fit with my traction bar being so girthy. But I think i can get a 85-92 vw golf radiator to fit. Its 1.5"X13"X24" and it has 1.25" in and out just like the b18 and they are on the same side. Well see If I can pick one up cheep localy.

350 at the wheels. Im running my to4e 40trim and I think thats about the max that thing is gona push. It will ony do about 20psi. Jdmhatchracer94 is doing about the same build as me too but I dont know what turbo hes gona run, I donth think he knows eather....lol

But im just running some delta 272/260 regrinds. They dont have any more lift that stock. It the break, well fuck guess ill be getting some new ones. 88dx took these onse to god knows how many 8k rev limiter action with them.

No Im running my stock cams, but I have a brand new set of deltas that im going to put in. I want to do just my basic street tune, then put the cams in and see how big of a diff they make. Im not going to do a real in depth just a basic tune.
O2 sensor is useless, I tune it like I feel it lol ;) I really don't have a O2 sensor, I never had the time to weld the bungs...

Go ahead and run 20ish psi with no o2 sensor and let me know how that works out for you :-X

It's worked great so far for all the people I've personally tuned. 20psi on a dirty D still doing 35+ if they don't get on it.

Well I have hit the rock bottom of my car account for this build. :-X im saving all my money to head to mexico in a month but when I get back here are some of the things im gona do.
So I still need to get a vw golf radiator to put in, new turbo center section, and I would also like a little bigger intercooler, so for now im going to thow it back together n/a :-[ put my 750's, my 3bar map, and my other fuel rail in and tune it that way.

Yes sir, i said 750cc injectors. That way my whole n/a map will be dialed in and i will only have to tweek the vac. part of the map a little bit when i throw the turbo on ;)

I ran the 272/260 like he has and they idled pretty good but the 2nd set i got 272/272 :-X They idled like a domestic and got about the same gas mileage :?:

The 272s Wes campaigned in his otherwise stock B20B idled stock, made 159 whp. A big engine makes a given cam "smaller," but I wasn't hugely impressed.
I'd rather find a used set of 403 (173 whp on LS with B16 pistons), 404 (170 whp on LS with B16 pistons, header with lower two primaries smashed half shut, and 2" exhaust), or the Brian Crower stage 3s (no dyno yet, but longer duration with slightly less lift and feels awesomeon LS with B16 pistons from 6500+ rpm, easy 190+ whp).
People get froke out by valvetrain prices but you can run stock steel retainers with most stuff (or you can with Z6 and Crower cam/springs), and with LS/ZC having easy valve upgrades available from other stock Honda engines it's really fucking cheap.

People also think cams are the end-all in making power where turbos are concerned.

Correct. Cams are the end-all for making power where flow restriction is concerned. So, that means all NA, or after a certain point with boost... say, 400-450 whp D-series, 300-550 LS (the early auto cams are crap), and 650+ B-VTEC.
edit: I like cams earlier that the published figures (the ones I just published :P) for D16, LS, and B16, but it's not mandatory for D16 and one of the "better" $40 sets of OEM cams put LS and B16 in the same boat.

So im gona just throw the deltas in for now and tune them with a check valve in my wg line and tune the life out of the n/a area pull the check valve and go from there. Now one question i have is where do i set my aem cam gears at(i know aem but i got them brand new for $50) Do i just retard them both @ 2* or start at 0? When it comea to cams & cam gears im a noob all over. Everything ive seen is that you retard them. I know every setup is differant, but i have no clue where to start. Probably start a 0 and go from there when i get some dyno time.

Yep thats the idea, keeps it open so I can tune vac. Dump tube ties into my exhaust. No open wg rippers for me. But I do have a cutout on there and im thinking about using a old 75mm mustang tb ive got kicking around, and rigging a stock internal wg to open the tb cutout. Pure blackness!!!

I will be doing a write up on that too. How to get better cooling for a crx without running a halfcore all gangster leaned radiator and tucking a larger radiator under the hood support and still keeping ground clearance. O0

So I hate the gangster lean half core radiator that I have in my crx. And it started to leak some. I know that as soon as I boosted my car that it was going to overheat. I have seen it so many times, big boost, stock half core, and a b18 in a crx. :-X But I need the room, whats a rhmt'er to do? So after alot of looking around I came up with this.
The radiator is 24.5"X12.5"X 1.5" Core is 1.5X12X20.5 = 369ci it also has 1 1/4" in and out, unlike the civic half core that has 1 1/8" also the stock half core core is around 1"X14"X14" 196ci

Now that youve done that, you are going to need to mod your hood latch support bar. First score the 3 bolts where the latch assembly bolts up so you can get your hood to latch when your done.

Now pull the 3 10 mm bolts out, and squeeze the 2 plastic clips and and now your cable and latch us free from the support. Undo the 4 10mm bolts that hold the assemble to the headlight area, and the 1 10mm bolth that is attached to your lower support. Clamp it ito the vice, and now pull out the drill

Now I used a step bit to drill out the 4 spot welds that hold the upright support on, You will be getting rid of this to make room for your new radiator.

Now I used a flat head screw driver and worked it in between the support upright and the latch bar. I took my time on this because I did not want to bend the latch support up to bad.

Now go ahead and bolt the hood latch back onto the support bar and test your hood to make sure it closes and opens.

Ok with that done I now went onto the task of mounting on the tabs to hold the radiator in place.
So I took the 2 rubber grommets and slipped them into the washers and put them onto the bottom of the radiator.

and I held it upto where I needed it. I made some marks on the traction bar of where the washers hit it. I pulled the grommet out and tacked 1 of the washer into place with my welder. Let it cool down and put the grommit back in.

After I test fitted it, I double checked my other washer marks and pulled the grommet out and tacked the other washer into place.
Now I need to keep the top of the radiator from flopping around. So I had some scrap lying around.
Cut it down and drilled a hole in it. And grabbed a screw I had lying around too.

I used the stock 91 teg lower radiator hose and it worked perfect. For the upper hose I used 1 91 teg upper hose, and a piece of another teg upper hose.

Now there is a nipple off of the radiator so I took a vaccume cap and a hose clamp and threw it on there.

I also found that the traction bar kit from weir is awesome, but it dose not leave a lot of room up front for the halfcore. So when I go out to the track and do some hot lapping/road racing, I have a good feeling that I would have had some problems when I block the entire radiator with a monster of a intercooler.

Well after the dyno I put down 125hp 113tq with it n/a. Not bad numbers for a turbo motor with no turbo on it and a stock map. It was 14ish afts untill 5k then it fell down to 11.8 by 7300rpms. With some tuning Im sure I could have pulled out more power. But i figured thats about what it was putting out. Should have it turboed within the next 3-4 weeks.

Ill let you know. Im gona try messing around with the 750cc injectors tomorrow with the map you sent me. We will see how it idles I just dont know to much about doing offsets and all that. I heard that the Siemens Deka style injectors are easyer to set up than the rc 750's but that came from someone I dont trust a whole lot. So we will see. They look just like these ones

Well got the 750cc injectors in and got it running. Not to bad just ended up turning the O2 off and setting the offset at 52 after I set up the fuel tools. Idles around the 15.2 mark. Then did a little street tuning and had to richen it up in a few places. Still running kinda lean on the top end, but thats ok. Im not boosted yet. Just need someone else to drive to I can tune. Kinda shitty trying to drive and tune at the same time....lol

well just a few updates. Ordered my intercooler last night, and a 2" alum bend that I need to have welded to my compressor outlet, got my 2 -10 an fittings for the valve cover. Finished the catch can the otherday. Now im just trying to get ahold of some guy named ron in utah to sent him my turbo wheels and have it balanced. Hope he calls me back. Man im getting so close to getting it done, I cant wate. Not much else I need. Just time and some parts ive ordered.

Just got the backdoor intercooler today!!!!!!!!!!
Core is 25"x8"x2.75"
Im gona hve to get new ins and outs welded to it in a few weeks because it has 2.5" in/out but its a thick ass wall and the inside of the pipe is 2 1/8" :-\, but It should flow enough air for my power goals. Im taking the compressor side of my turbo over to a friends house tomorrow morning to have him weld a elbow to the compressor outlet. So far its coming along. Slow going but its going. Only thing left after that is to have the turbo balanced

His welding is as close as humanly possible to direct straight up cnc tig welding. Fabrication error was due to me running 24.5 tires and him building the system around that. NOT a 26" tall tire, shit will get fixed next time I go down.

Well did a little setting up today and just about got the intercooler just how I want it. I nees to trim just a smidge off the back of the grill. so it dosent push the bumper down. like this

Once I get it trimmed up tomorrow, its getting a coat of low gloss black for the sleeper look. And then when I get my turbo wheels back from rons turbo shop. In the future im going to take some 3" alum pipe down to the exhaust shop and have them swedge it out like a header colector pipe and cut out and have it welded to my intercooler so the transistion is as smooth as possable. I would have it done if i had my fucking turbo wheels. Im still wasing for them. Its been 2 weeks since i shipped them out. Im gona call the shop tomorrow. I have a fealing that this thing is going to be a great street car. Im not gona go out and break any records but it should rip and be a pretty reliable setup.

Well I receved my turbo wheels today. Aboot time damn it. I also receved my 1/2 3 bolt 3" flange to redo my down pipe. I dont want to keep redoing this shit over again, but I want it right. So I ordered up new 3" tubing and I receved that last week.

Pics dont do this downpipe any good. Its straight sexy how well that downpipe tucks up to the oil pan. And the best weld is dead on top where everyone can see.....lol The only thing is that im gona throw my nasty ass migged over 3 time used up and cut & recut dumptube for the wg. haha, when I fluxcored O0 my downpipe the shittyiest weld I did ended up being the first one off the turbo on top.... And I got better as I worked my way down. By the time you can't see it, it's looks great. Oh well it works, that's all that matters. And it didn't cost 500 fucking dollars, more like 20. :noel:

Got the new intake/spacerplate/tb on today. ;D
Drained coolent, put 170* thermistat in, fixed leak on rad(sensor was just loose :-\), got
all the lines hooked up fuel/vac.
So tomorrow i just have to go get some 3/8" line for my brake booster and mod my throttle cable braket to fit on this obd1 intake mani, and set up my tps/idle blade fill the radiator burp the system move my o2 sensor to my headder insted of behind my leaky doughnut at
the end of the hedder...lol and check everything else out.

Well tb/plate/intake combo is the shit!!! Throttle response is wild!! Chirped the tires 2 time just trying to leave from a stop normal....lol Gona have to get use to driving it. That and its the smoothest this motor has ever ran. Pulls the most on decell ive ever had on a honda motor. 26+ in on vac in decel. The new thermostat did just what i thought it would. Lowered temps by about 10* now when im sitting at a light at full temp im right about 200ish b4 the radiator. I havent hooked up the laptop to see what it is after the radiator. Im sure its somewhere around 170ish. So i didnt hamer on it yet, ive got to do a little tuning, but i do still have a slight 3rd gear grind above 5k. I was hoping new trans fluid would have helped, it did on second but not 3rd. So this week im gona try and get the intercooler end tankes finished and try and get the cams and valvecover and catch can in.
All in all it felt good to mark a few things off the list.

no updates, just working 6-3 6days a week, and the 1 day off and 3-5 days after work im working on other peoples cars for extra cash. seems like everyday i have someone asking me to change all there fluids on there car or do a timing belt or a clutch. All I know is the winter is when everyones cars break down and the cant afford shop prices. But i work for $20-25 an hour and they are fucking pumped. I figure after the first of the year I will be back to the car, im so close to the end its not funny. Im figuring somewhere around feb/march i will be contacting mr. black man LEED himself for some tuning love. I would love to max this fucking turbo out. Im thinking boost sbould be all in by 3200-3500rpms and pull like a son of a bitch till 6500ish

New bling bling 3" pipes welded onto the intercooler instead of the cast 2 1/8" that was on there when I bough them.
I also orded up all the rest of my tbolt clamps and couplers on sunday. And I picked up a sweet deal on a oil return flange on ebay.....lol
Next on the list is to finish up the exhaust, and charge pipes.
But first im gona do new upper and lower ball joints and new wheel bearings so I dont die when im going mach 90958957905786 when Im done :D

Got the cold side charge pipe cut up today and set into place, mounted the ic back up to do that. Just got to tack the pipes together. Shit will be done in a few months...lol

Got the cold side charge pipe finished up tonight, just got to weld my bov flange on it, and paint it. Thej the next step is to put my delta 272/260 cams in, put my new valve cover on and put my snatch can in and hook up the lines, tap my oil pan and put my turbo on and make the oil return line, hook up my hot side charge pipe, put my oil feed line on, weld up an adapter to go from 3" down to my current exhaust, and then put the 3 bar in, and come down to ryans house and finish the exhaust.

I got mine from Columbia River man. If your gona do it, order 3 45* bends and it will come out bitchen. I also ordered all my t-bolt clamps, and couplers form them. There shit is pretty much the best metal material Ive used.

I was gona put my deltas in today, but I ended up needing some new cam seals, So im gona go get those from honda tomorrow. And I might just put my cams in this weekend. We will see. :P

I'd just use a couple barb fittings and some hose, and JB weld the fitting going into the oil pan so it never leaks. Vibration would eventually kill the steel pipe if you made it solid.
Clean build though man, engine looks right.

Well I have 2 turbo oil return flanges, So im gona take one of them and bolt it to my oil pan. It will probably just be a 45* coming out of my oilpan with a barb on it and a 45* out of my turbo with a barb on it and a short pice of rubber hose inbetween. I will see once I get to that point and deal with it then.

I hate those clamps too, but it was all I had at the time. I need to get some new radiator hose because my top one is starting to bulge and good knows how long I have b4 it explodes. On the garden hose, I picked it up 4 free frome my stepdad, if it shits the bead, I'll go pick up some hose from the hardware store, Or I will get some heater hose. I looked at braded hose and that shit is out of hand how much they want for it. Ill its gona be carring is oil vapor, so its not like its got to be all special.

Well went and put my new cams in today, and while I was tightening down my intake cam, the fucking thing broke in half!!! So I think that while I was doing it, it must have moved and bound up, or it was a fucking piece of shit and just crumbled. I have never seen a cam break like this. So i went against my judgement I put the delta exhaust cam in and put the stock intake cam in. So here is the money shots.

So tell me, how do you tigten the caps? Did you run all the bolts down by hand, then turn them all say, 1/4 turn at a time in a pattern progressinig outward till they're all run down flush? Or did you just start tightening one of the caps down? Cause if you don't do it evenly, you put a ton of stress on the cam and it could certainly be enough to bend an aluminum cap or break the cam.

So when you started at the center and worked your way out, how much did you tighten each bolt? Not trying to be an ass, just wondering if you did this wrong or if the cam was actually defective, as I've never seen a cam fail that way that didn't involve human error.

I don't know how a cam breaks like that - they are pretty easy to break, but it's always at the side of the lobe and not across it. I'd say there's something wrong with the cam before Delta touched it, so don't get your hopes up, but call and ask wtf anyway.

But he said if i brought it to him he would figure out whats up and eather give me a new one for free (if casting flaw) or cut me a smoking deal of $50ish if it was my fault. Eather way, im getting a new cam and throwing it in next weekend.

You know if you busted it or not. If you did it right like you said, then it can't be your fault and you should know that. I've tried snugging cam caps down too quickly and had the cam bind up. Nothing broke, but it pretty damn obvious I'd gotten in a hurry and messed up.

So we loled about bizzymoto and his 702whpowwwrz with piss injection. Some free stickes, and an invite to come down and hang out with them when they open there new shop in march. They just picked up a whole other shops worth of stuff, and are going to start doing head porting. Cant say enugh good things about those guys.

88dx, they are moving just down the street to a shop thats about 3000sq ft larger and twice as tall,
corey, it probably was me, i was there bullshitting for like 45min, got there around 2 and left around 3.
only, i still have one half of the cam, the owner looked at me and said "you want half of this for a paper weight?" so i kept the longer one, and he put the shorter one on the wall with the rest of the fucked up shit. i will take a pic of it tonight, or tomorrow.
On a good note, i put the new intake cam in and it didnt snap in half =) so now i just need to fire it up and keep it above 2500 for 15-20 min to break in the new cam.

You'll get the same mpg if you tune the car, you neanderthal. A lumpy cam generates less vacuum which will cause it to run rich if you're using a stock fuel map.

Well, the cams are broke in, just went and did some shakedown runs down the unpopulated roads. Put it in 2nd and at 3k I floored it and by 5k, the tires screaming......lol Car runs great. My idle vac now is sitting at around 17-15 instead of the normal 22-20. But i dont have any hesitation like i have always had at the 3k mark. She perked right up with thise cams. Now im realy curious on how this fucker is gona do under boost!! Ive definatly have some tuning to do now. Cars running a little lean at wot, and rich at cruise beacuse ive never fine tuned that part of my fuel map.

So was I. So far only the 1.2 regrinds for D16 have shown themselves to be intermittently defective. I was super impressed by the F23 cam he did for AFAccord, and it was obviously mild (entry level grind) by the idle so adding a turbo is a no brainer. Breathing on it would have been a 200-210 whp at 3 psi sort of proposition with everything else in the longblock stock.
I'm not saying he/Webb is the only place who can grind a cam like that, it could be one of those motors that comes alive easily with a cam, it's just hard to recommend something I haven't seen results from with how a lot of stuff sucks.

Im not debating that I spent more than half of my youth messing with all motor d16's so I understand the philosophy behind it. Most people will want out of the box a motor that makes more power and can do so with oem parts. Its why k series motors have become so popular.
Everybody as their style but I do enjoy seeing an underdog build. I am working on a vitaara d16a1 and a high compression 85mm b20b w/p8r head so Im down for odd ball shit.

Well guys, Ive got a new problem. I pull up to the bank today and I notice a little oil puddle under my car, and its coming from the snatch can. So i come home and I pull the filter to see how much oil is in there, and HOLLY FUCK. Ive got a good 3/4 of a qt in there. In case you guys didnt see it back on page 8 here is the catch can.

So I have no clue why there would be that much oil in there. Im still running my pcv valve. So why the fuck would there be so much oil in there? Do I need to make a baffle in my vc so it dosent just fling the oil in there? Assuming thats what its doing.

With your setup I would put the can higher than the fitting on the cover. Maybe liquid oil is going into the can instead of vapor.

Well, you have to have baffling else you just hooked to oil hoses to the valve cover. And as mentioned, the can needs to be higher than the valve cover for it any oil that does get in the lines to drain back.

I have mostly everything I need to make it happen just a matter of motivation and time. I have 3 cars/builds that are all about the same level of having parts so we will see which one I actually finish.

Well I said fuck it and just threw the old vc on for now. Ill deal with the catch can shit later. Im thinking of doing a drain back from the can to black box. I just need to keep making foreword progress. Ive pulled my valve cover off 6 times in the last few days and its getting kinda old. :-\ Need to do work and keep thriving to get shit done to keep my motivation up.

Recirc it (the drain) to the TOP OF THE FRONT of the pan . It will keep it from getting the drain port plugged by oil slosh on acceleration (if you recirc at the rear of the block-like all the guys that complain about the endyn cans overflowing at the track but not on the dyno). I do it this way, so do DRQPQUT, and Mitch..... Also, under acceleration... The drain serves as a 3rd crankcase breathing port to the can since all of the oil is sloshed against the back of the block
I didnt put my drain on the back of the block after thinking about people complaining about their cans filling up with the ENDYN kit. I use the same MOROSO can, and have absolutely 0 issues this way... Everyone else Ive told about it that has done it has 0 issues too... But ya need to baffle that can son!!! :yes:
The can does NOT need to be higher than the VC... Neither do the ports.

The can needs to be baffled, and a drain recirc-ed to the pan.... I havent changed a filter on my catch can in over a year and its still white as hell. Its working and its LOW the TOP of the filter is lower than the chargepipe entering the throttle body.
Not even a hint of oil anywhere on the firewall.

In a perfect world maybe.. In the real world... It needs to be recirced. The VC is baffled in the front on B series, the h is baffled on the rear of the cover. Its not enough. Period man. I dont worry about the oil as I change mine every 1500-1600 miles. The condensation is about 0 as well....

Gas goes into the oil, oil evaporates it and it goes into the catch can. It's not a closed system since you'll have more and more contamination (relatively small) in the oil.

Its an opinion. Yes, There is a bit of validity to it, but its NOWHERE NEAR as big of a deal with it as you're making it out to be. I make ALOT more power than you, I'm SURE beat the shit out of my car ALOT harder than you ALOT more frequently than you... and dont have ANY issues.... If you can see that you have water in your oil youve got another problem. My car gets raped repetedly then parked for periods of time and I have NEVER EBVER noticed any milky sludge or any other iota of any type of contamination. SHit it doesnt even smell, nor is there anything (oil) on the filter...
But Leed calls it a miracle motor... HAHAHAH
As there are 12562344803522 other people tha dont have the issue, Id be fairly comfortable saying there is NOTHING that your motor would suffer from having the same setup thats working for everyone else.

Last night I installed caps on my cold side charge pipe and pressurized it. Held 20psi with a super slow leak from my caps. So its good to go. Just need to clean and paint it.
Today I got the oil drain mocked up. Fucking ebay oil return flange that bolts to the turbo said it was 1/2 npt, when I tried to screw a barbed fitting into it, it didnt fit. So I borrowed a 1/2" tap and taped it out to the right size. It must have been btp and not npt. I also drilled the holes in the oilpan for the return flange(same as the oil return flange on the turbo), and now I just need to clean it up. But im gona wate on that untill i figure out where the hell Im gona put my drainback from my catch can.
So the plan for this weekend is do and oil change, drill and weld an o2 bung in my downpipe, build an adapter to go from my 3" dp to my aftermarket, 2 3/8" exhaust. (just for the time being) And if I have time, clean and paint my charge pipes. Also would like to clean out my intercooler again, just to make sure I got all the chunks of aluminum out when I cut the tanks for the 3" pipes, and hit it with another coat of low gloss black.

So Tomorrow im gona head to the hardware store and pick up a few bolts, and odds and ends, and also pick up some hose for my oil return line and put my oil feed line on. Then Im gona clean and flush my charge pipes, and throw a coat of paint on them. And get them bolted on and do a little tuning with my boost cut set at 1.5psi.....lol

Well fuck, I pulled all the turbo shit off today because I wasnt done, and I need to drive the car to work tomorrow. So back to trying to get it done sometime this week after work each day. Got the chargepipes all cleaned and prepped for paint. Flushed out the intercooler 1 last time, found out that my firering for my wastegate is the wrong size. Cut some cardboard up and taped it together as a mock up catchcan.
So tomorrow im gona paint the cold side chargepipe, and get some more gas for the welder, and some sheetmetal for the new catch can.

FWIW, when I bought my IC, it looked clean (it was new, second hand) so I tapped up the inlet and outlet to keep it clean. When I was finally ready to use it (like 6 months later...) I used a water hose to flush it out and then a leaf blower to dry it. Worked great and it only took like 5 minutes to wash and dry it.
Protip: Don't paint your IC pipes in the dark. :P

well I used the hose and sprayed the fuck out of both of them, then I brought them in the garage, and ran some papeer towles through the intercooler pipes. GOna throw a coat of paint on them tomorrow.

i just bent up a catchcan for my crx out of alum at work and tiged it together, will have 2 filters and 2 inlets then one oil return line to the block... you making yours out of steel?

Use the e-brake instead of jacking on the brake pedal, and the front doesnt slam down. Also dependant on how soft or stiff the front suspension is.
Then again, I can do this because my breakdown is uphill at my local track. May not be the safest bet for others... ???

My front suspention is pretty stiff, so i dont think im gona have an issue. i have an extra set of shit ass fenders that i was holding on to incase my fenders rub, at wich point i will cut the fuck out of my garbage ones for extra clearance for when i go to the track.

Why did you hone the rods?
Because the piston pins were just a little to tight on a 3 of the rods. So thats why I honed it.

I had him keep them for just that reason, Because I didnt know how much clearance I would have over my slicks. cut off wheel here I come!! Ill hack the fuck out of them and throw them into the car when I go to the track, so if I need to put them on at the track I can. ;)

Yep, there beau's old ones he sold to me. I got the rims and slicks from him.
Did a little crude tuning by myself today. Just some idle and post cranking type stuff, and checked my timing and wow, I now pull 3 more in of vac. Now im not gassing out my garage every time I start my car. So looks like i will be cutting and tacking up the rest of my exhaust through out the week and then droping everything off to ryan to have him do some baller tig welding on it over the weekend.

Well I droped the mid pipe section off to malichite today to get it welded up. He said it was to nice to be having me dropping my thick ass slug welds onto. Yep, my brotherinlaw wrecked his srt-4 and it had 3" injen exhaust on it. He asked do you want any parts b4 I have it towed the wrecking yard? I took the exhaust, and his intercooler, and It also his stockintercooler I kept too.
I will say, (and malichite will quote me on this) The 3" flanges that injen used on that exhaust is the most bad ass 3" flanges i have ever welded with. I think that they are cnc'ed. They are fucking beefy!!
I dont know how loud it will be with just the resonator, but I have a feeling that sometime this summer I will be picking up a magnaflow and having new exhaust welded up from the axel flange back because I dont realy like how it turned out. Might end up stuffing another resonator instead of the magnaflow behind the axel. And then cut a hole in my rear bumper behind the mud flap and kick the exhaust out there. I would do a stainless steel sheet metal plate that would be pop-riveted on with the exhaust running through it. There is a pefect spot cut in the frrame from the factory for it too.

My car has just the one muffler. I had some Dynamax Bullits but they were not SS and Dave wouldnt weld them on it......... But all in all I like the way it sounds.

Im not a huge fan of the way it turned out ether. From the axle back that is. Must be because I was just using left over parts and pieces to make it. I think the side exit through the rear bumper is where its gona be done. I hate how the crx's have the muffler that runs all the way across the back and then exits on the other side of the car. And Im not gona do some stupid ass staight pipe from the rear axle over to the other side of the car at a 45* angle. It looks like brown rice every time I see that done!! CHING CHONG MEOW!!

Well today was a good day. Got most of the last few things done. Got my exhaust from ryan on sat. Looks bitchen by the way. Then today I re-did the wg dump tube because the one I had was hitting the downpipe, and it had been cut and reused about 4 times so the pipe had all kinds of cuts and welds.....lol
So here is the new one, Im gona just call this one the snake..............

I cut about 3/16" off of each downpipe bolt so it wouldent bottom out in the turbo. I fitted up my feed line to see how I was gona run my feed.
So tomorrow im gona bolt up my turbo and my exhaust and run my hot side chargepipe, disconect the line to my pcv valve coming from my black box and cap it, then run a t from my intake run a vac line to my bov and my wg. Then I need to burn a new chip and set my boost cut at 1.5lbs untill I get my catch can and my baffles set up for my valve cove.

It runs!!!!! Well kind of. Boost control is with my right foot due to the wg not having a line ran to it, and the bov dosent work eather, because it to dosent have a line ran to it. And air filters??? Who needs them, Not me because mine dosent fit....lol So the plan for tomorrow is to get some RIGHT sized t's and run vac lines to my wg, and bov. The Im gona get some window screen to put over my inlet for the time being, Untill I can get the right silcone bend to make my air filter work. And boy the exhaust is real thumpy with the deltas and 3" with no muffler! :D

Well today, I tried to replace the bearing in the dizzy. It was a no go. I dont have small enugh bearing pullers to get the wheels off. So now im in search of a obd-1 LS dizzy. So keep your eyes on the lookout for a nog price ;)
On the other hand, I got vacuum lines ran to the wg, and bov. I hit 5 lbs today and let off because It went pretty lean. So Im gona try and do a little tuning tomorrow. I will say that the exhaust on this thing is a little noisy, but man dose it sound good when the turbo started to spool up ;D Realy deep tone to it. Not raspy at all like I thought it was going to be. Will say It dosent sound like most the other turbo hondas Ive heard. I dont know if its because of the cams or what, but I will probably put up a ripper vid as soon as I can get some dry ground and someone to run the camara.

Well I ordered a Dizzy, and a fresh obd2 oil pump. Should be here sometime next week. The reason I ordered the oil pump is because I dont like how the oil psi dropped when I put the turbo in. I expected some kind of drop, but not this much. If it dosent add more psi, it will just be piece of mind. :-\
On the up side of things, ryan is gona come over on monday and we are gona hack together a street tune. Hopefully the roads are a little dryer then and I can get some rippers videos. O0

80 psi on cold start
20psi when totaly warmed up. (like 20 miles of freeway driving)
Now on cold it between 65-70psi
and half way warmed up its at 20psi.
I haven had it running for more than 20 min at a time so i dont know what the full warmed up psi will be. Also ive been running 15w-40w for now. Gona end up running 10w-30w i think.

Well just got done replacing the turbo to dp gasket. Its a 3 bolt header colector gasket. One of the bolts backed out while we were tuning earlyer and it blew the gasket out. But now all is good. Its now smoking in the driveway after I just took it out. To bad the roads are wet. :'( Hopfully vids tomorrow. 10lbs will turn ya out!!

Well, went out and did a few pulls today. Looks like its hitting 7-8 lbs. Not the 9-10 i thought it was. Got a couple of vids too. Just got to edit them so they are not 22min of me just fucking driving around. I also think the header colector gasket im using on my turbo is burning off and smelling just like clutch, or my clutch is slipping. Im almost 100% that my clutch is just fine and the gasket is cooking. I need to look into what kind of 3" 3 bolt header gasket can handle those kind of temps. Because the old one that i pulled off is black now and is brittle as all hell.

Does your fuel gauge work? If it does, you shouldn't do rippers with that little of gas. Plenty of people have lost their motors doing so.

I was gona fly out to reno on tuesday night and come home on thur, but that fell through and I now have wed and thursday off. And my garage is clean :mexi: So I think im gona start on building my fan shroud, and put a 3 bar in a stock tb sensor. Hopefully I will at least get the shroud done. That and puting a filter on my turbo is my #1 priority right now.

Well had the last 2 days off with nothing to do so I decided to tackle the radiator fan shroud. I had to build one to make it fit. It never over heated but I know once summer gets here its just gona get heat soked and I will then be fucked. After doing a some tuning some street tuning I was seeing some 205*-207* And thats more than I want to see as its only 50* outside right now. So here are a few pics.

Put some paint on it and put some weather stripping on the radiator and some on the shroud around where the fan buts up to it. I have yet to install it because I ran out of time today. So It looks like I will be hitching aride to work tomorrow. :-[ Once its done I will post up some final pics and let you guys know what it dose to my temps.

haha, when i was in Sacramento, me and my buddy eric went there every Wednesday to run the nitrous crx. was faster than 90% of the cars, i remember there being a fast 300c or m or w/e they are that come with the hemi. some nice cars but horable drivers. allthough the last time i went there was a high 9 second red eg hatch, and some 10 sec dsms that didnt break :o

Well i just did one last test fit with it attached to the rad an it fits fucking perfect. Also got the air filter on the turbo and it fits good as well. I will snap a few pics and put them up later on once im all done.

So It took about 20 min for my car to reach operating temp with the fan hardwired on like have had it, b4 it would only take about 7min. This fan is totaly kick ass, Its like a damn wind tunnel when its on....lol

Well it looks like the getting hot issue is over. I couldnt get my temp above 186 today. It was pretty cold out. It was about 40 outaide today. I did about 5 or 6 2nd and 3rd gear rippers in a row and couldent get it to go above 186. And when i was just cruzing it was at 180ish.

Mine only "overheat" (little over middle of stock gauge) when I'm in the traffic for a long time in a sunny summer day over 25C. I just press the fan button and it cold down to normal. It's an ebay slim fan.
My car is black, it doesnt help in a sunny day. (no racist allusion)

Fuck man not ready for the dyno yet. As you can see in the background of the last pic I have 4 things left to get done b4 It see's the dyno. It will see the dyno on the dyno day for sure. Hopefully b4 that too. But we will see. I might just do a street tune with dave and then tune the high boost runs on the dyno. Its not easy to tun by myself while driving and trying to not get tire spin.....lol WHHHEEEEEE!!!

Been super swamped with life. Dog had surgiry, and set me back 1k :'(

But I did manage to convert my ecu to a vtec ecu so I could try out the crome free with the whole antilag/2 map thing and it seems to work out pretty well.
So things to do.
1. Drill my extra oilpan for catch can return
2. Drill my catchcan and wash it out and mount it. \
3. Wash my valve cover out, and my newly drilled oilpan
4. Put my 3bar in and street tune my car
5 Talk to the nog and get a little tuning

2days plan is to drill and clean my extra oilpan, and then maybe if i have time i will then paint my catch can. I ordered up some 1/0 gauge welding wire last night to replace the 8gauge i have running from the alt back to the cutoff swich now :X Im also gona wire in a relay and rewire my fuel pump, and then put in a bulkhead at the firewall so i dont have to pop my trunk to jump my car. And last of all i need to wire a bigger gauge wire to my fan becuase after i run the fan for about 20min or so and turn the car off and then back on it pops the stock 15amp fuse. That bitch pulls some power!!

Ok so, yesterday I pulled the oil pan, put the new hi flow/hi pressure obd2 oil pump on. Figured while I was there I would throw my other oil pan and valve cover on so I could mount the catch can. Got about half way done and called it a night. So now im gona fill my new oil pan up with water to make sure it dose not leak around my return flanges on the pan. (1 for turbo, and 1 for catch can) Because that where my last pan was leaking and no mater what I did I couldn't get it to stop. I will post pics when I'm all done. Hopefully today, or tomorrow morning.

Well I didn't get any new pics of the can setup, but it did turn out pretty good. The only thing is I need to go get a different filter for it. One thats sealed with a barb coming off of it so I can run a hose off of it to under my car so I don't drive down the road smelling of oil vapor :-X. I also need to get some different hose. The garden hose just isn't going to cut it. It gets way to hot sitting right above my turbo mani and get super squishy. I will get pics of this thing tomorrow. Cam battery is dead. :'(

Seems to be working, Not really any leaks, but I will need to switch to some differant hose. As much as I would love to keep the garden hose. It just is way to mushy when it gets hot, and Im worryed that it will pull away from the an fittings once it gets too hot. So Malichite is gona kick me down some hoe's and all will be good.
Now im gona go get a breather that looks like this and put it in place of the filter that is on my catch can

Me too. I will have 5+gal of good gas for it the day of the dyno. So once we max out on pump. I will mix in some of the go juice for the rest of the tuning. I will eather make my clutch slip, max out the turbo, or blow up the motor. Hope its the maxing of the turbo though.

Well, I got my 1/0 gauge welding wire installed instead of the 8ga I had running from the alt, back to the kill switch. My shit idles rich now. So Ive only drove it about 10 min to work and that was about it. I need to do some logging now to see where its at now. I also need to put the interior back together now.
Next on the list of things to do
1. Install relay, and 10gauge wire to my fan
2. Install my 2 stage boost controller
3. Install my new catch can lines
4. Install my new catch can filter, and remote mount the hose that connects to the filter
now I need Leed to respond to my text messages to I can figure out where to meet up with him on sat for the street tune.

Well tuning has been rescheduled for the 11th. So It gives me a few mor days to inish up a few things.
Wire a relay for the fuel pump with larger wire.
Wire a relay with bigger wire for my fan.
Put my turboxs 2 stage boost controler in and wire it up.
And set up my new catchcan lines, and filter.

Fail, that's just going to create noise on the ECU's sensor ground as the inherent capacitance from aluminum oxide gets tweaked by the pump.
I have specifically stated to ground all analog sensors that are logged through the ECU to the ECU's signal ground (thermostat housing for Hondas, IM for most other cars) and ground all electrical loads to the block. I'm glad you listened to me, but please keep in mind that I am very specific for very specific reasons.

I have specifically stated to ground all analog sensors that are logged through the ECU to the ECU's signal ground (thermostat housing for Hondas, IM for most other cars) and ground all electrical loads to the block. I'm glad you listened to me, but please keep in mind that I am very specific for very specific reasons.

Tune went awesome besides my fucked up 3bar. So we ended up using a 2.5bar. It went great Dave was amazed at how much timing the motor wanted. He also said he wasn't sure if I would even need the good gas for the nog tune. But I figured I would pick some up just for a buffer anyway. 4th gear rippers on some back roads are a little sketchy with the LS gearing.....lol

LS don't give a shit about timing, and they pick up gobs of torque. They are great setups.

I wonder why your numbers are uncorrected though. I think most everyone elses numbers were SAE corrected, you definitely would have broken the 300whp mark with corrections. But uncorrected is "the real" hp.

Im gona rock this setup for at least the rest of the racing season. I might then in the fall/winter change out to a true 50trim, (I already have the compressor cover and backing plate just need a good wheel) Or go with a hx/hy35 setup and a 4bar.

You won't need to run a 4 bar with the bigger turbo, you will do 300hp @ 12lbs :noel:

I have a feeling that something is holding this motor back. But I dont know what. I know the turbo isnt huge, but its big enughf, to make 400@ the crank. So 350+ at the wheels. Im thinking that the turbo is choking out. I should have pulle my Air filter off and see if it made any differance. You guys have any ideas? I know that cam gears would just move the power band around or make a couple more hosze powerz, but fuck me.

Judging by how TQ falls off so quick, a restriction... I don't know what ya had for ex... BUt i DOnt think a bigger hotside would have hurt, at all judging by the graph... I don't know the idiosyncrasies of a LS though...

.70ar full 3" exhaust. The other thing might be the stock pre 92head. I know Beavis Davis said something about the pre 92 heads had small ports or something along those lines.

90-91 heads have a smaller ports from what i remember believe the auto heads are the worst I will see about gettin you another head I usually get them all the time

Ill go dig out the parts ls heads on the side but J davis is right the old school b18a1 heads did have smaller ports. I also have an obd2 ls head laying around Ill bust out the calipers after it stops raining outside since I throw junk ls heads in the weeds LOL. most likely the reasoning why they are rated at 130 vs 140-142 hp of the newer ls motors.
I say fuck it the car runs great hit the track and enjoy having to get a cage in it.

Dyno's are what they are. Im going to guess this car smashes easily into the mid 11's. The car has use able power unlike alot of overpowered cars that make globs of power in the wrong place.

THanks guys, Im pretty sure this thing is gona be a track monster. I know that dynos are just that. A tuning tool. I just want to make sure I am taking advantage of every bit of power I can. Trap speeds will tell me what I want to know though. Thanks for all your guys help, and all the support to keep me motivated to get it done. I cant wate to track this car.
Now the next things to do on this car are new balljoints, wheel bearings, and extended studs so I can run my slicks.

That's assuming traction. 290 wtq is the sort of shit that rips tires free, the car's got to freight train on the road.
I don't know, the LS cam thing is so weird. For stock or mild regrinds, I think I'd try and see if cam gear adjustments did something - I know it's useless on B-VTEC, but honestly I've never tried on LS and with how quirky the cam situation is I'd be inclined to try it.
Also, when power goes flat as a strap like that I'm used to seeing the turbo maxed out or exhaust side choked out.

I just googled the turbo number and I came up with what I think are the exducer on the cold side is 74.90mm, and the inducer was 45mm. :-\
Im pretty sure that mine inducer isnt that small, but I will have to check. But at any rate, its fun :D

Straight T04e or t3/t04e? eBay or some actual legit brand?
Either way, if you believe in compressor maps, you should be able to make 350-375whp with a 40 trim t04e compressor wheel. If you want to find out if it is compressor limited, crank the boost to 30psi. If the boost falls to 20-22psi by redline, you're compressor limited.
I can't see it being turbine limited based on how laggy it is. I have to assume the turbine wheel is larger than at Stage I T3 wheel, so already I know that the turbine wheel is probably not the issue. On top of that, .70 is a pretty big turbine housing.
My guess is, with 2-3 more psi, you'd see 320-330whp and that's it. It's probably held back by the .50ar cold side enough where it can't hit 350-375whp. All in all, it's just a T4 turbo on a 1.8L engine. The results should be expected to some degree.

The 1st post lists CDM. It's probably stg3 turbine, but if those silly little yellow men put a stg2 or even a stg1 on it (you have to measure it), that's the problem.
I know the guy named buggermas on ht/ectune forums has experience with big LS numbers. Maybe shoot him a PM.

Well boys and girls. The turbo is about done. Its starting to smoke when she gets warm and its got some shaft play. Im sure hitting the choke line on the compressor map dosent help it eather. :evil: So its time for a new turbo. Im looking for a hy35, he341, or a he351 non vgt. I would like to get the hy with the 9cm housing for the quick spool. So Im probalby gona be pulling the turbo off in the next week or two and goto NA GAY! for a little bit. :'(
So plans for this winter are
1. New turbo and downpipe
2. 3 or 4 bar map sensor
3. Nog leed tune
4. Make a bunch more power and need bigger injectors and clutch

Do the 60mm compressor wheel upgrade on an HX-35, or just get an HE-351. Not quite to the same level as a 6262 but for the money hard to beat. You can also go look at JD (john deere) equipment as some of the smaller stuff ran S362's which would be a direct competitor to the 6262.

Ive been looking for a hy35, he341, or a he351cw. I would really like to get the 351 as it has the larger compressor wheel. The main thing is they all have the 9cm exhaust side, and I'm looking for something to give me a broader range of power. In not going vtec, and I'm not gonna rev the shit out of my LS because I don't like the idea of pulling the valve cover off to figure out where the hell my rocker arms went. My car already idles like a v8 and the cams beat the ground, and I like it!! I want at least 3k+ of full boost. This is 100% a street car, that will see the track maybe 1-2 times a year.

hx-35 12cm is plenty responsive for street driving. I would still take an HE351 over the hx-35 as it is like 10 year newer technology. The compressor on it is very similar to the old super 40 wheel, and the turbine is a huge step over anything in the HX line.

Split scroll, spools off of individual exhaust pulses instead of waiting for collector pressure to build.
Diesels have something like 30 or 40% less exhaust energy than a gas engine, and commonly have their pulses seperates so there are no overlapping cyls feeding split turbines. That's why so many diesels are 6 cyl/split bank (3 cyl banks with at most 120 degree cam duration so there is no overlap aka reversion between cyls in a bank). Look up Buchi, he had turbo theory worked out ten years before OEMs decided to like him and everyone though he was a loon. Also, fuck you.

The vw radiator worked very well with no intercooler in front of it. Once i shoved my ic in front of it it would get warm. Now with that said, my ic has very tight fins on it. It lets almost no air through. And what little air does get through is not moving at the speed u need to get through a radiator. So if u had a tube and fin It would probably work great. Or a loose fin cdm style one. My bar plate style kills tje airflow. My rad and ic were smacked up again each other too because o had no more room. So in your case I'm sure u can move the ic forward and the rad back to at left draw some air in from somewhere else. Abaz has this exact setup in his crx that beau put on and it has no problem keeping cool. I really think tjat it was my ic that was the problem. Also jacer63 has a buddies car that he did this on and had great results with it too.

Its some chinaman bar plate thats too fucking big but its what I had and was cheap.
I think I'll do this anyway and in the mean time try and trade my ic to someone local for a shorter one.
I also may try to shroud mine a little different.
Basically not block any of the core, but block 100% between the rad and body so all air has to go through the rad.
Then add a fan from a taurus or whatever the hot cheap slimfan was everyone was grabbing.
