Title: Removable Lappy Table
Post by: stealthiskey on March 10, 2009, 10:28:51 PM
Did this a while back,

First get a USB hub, combines up to 4 usb connections into just 1.
Then bend some metal and weld it together so that it will drop right into the glove box.
Makes it a LOT easier to see the screen when it's closer to eye level.

Would probably benefit by a flat surface across the table, throw some aluminum diamond plate on there later.

I like that, with maybe a little velcrow (sp?) straps to hold it into the glove box, and some sort of clamp or strap to hold the laptop to the base it would be perfect

I was thinkin about doing one that straps over the seat, but this is really cool! Your idea would allow for a passenger & better height/body angle. The only prob would be going to a diff body style. I think you could make an adjustable base with a turnbuckle to wedge it in to fit other gloveboxes, along with an adjustable angle.

BTW they make USB lights that work really well, you can plug it into a usb port you just free'd up. I've used a hub since day one (ebay ftw), since I usually have at least three cables plugged in - datalogging, LC-1, and Ostrich. A real problem when you only have 3 ports and need to hook up a flashdrive, light, Burn1, electric ballsack fan for non-AC summer cars...

What is different about it?  On majestic honda's website, the 2dr, 3dr, and 4dr all have the same part no.

Cool idea. I dunno if I'd trust the plastic tabs in the glovebox to hold up a labtop.

It's been a few years since I've had a eg. There's just plastic tabs on the sides of the glove compartment right? If you push in on the sides of the glove box the whole thing drops down or am I thinking of a different car? It just seems like a lot of weight since the laptop is cantilevering out. Like I said, if it works then who am I to say. Rock on!

Actually the glove box/dash are the same for all eg's. 4door glove box will work just fine.

Looks good, mine clamps the the cage and I wrap a couple bungee cords around it.  So far it has held up to some low 1.5 60'
