roof rack.

I know a guy who has a 2K watt power inverter in his truck just for running job-tools for situations like you describe. He bought the inverter at HF, it was around 200 or so.

This.

We have a 10+ year old Trace inverter that we used to use to power our home in our service truck.  You can buy capable ones for pretty cheap anymore.

Don't buy cheap battery powered tools.  Buy good stuff.  It really does make a difference between cheap stuff have cheap batteries.  Cheap batteries die in 3 months and leave you with a worthless tool.

I bought a hf cordless drill after my old ass china cored drill broke.  It didin't die, the motor bearings just died because i used the damn thing so much.

THe drill works fine.  The bits that came with snap if you look at them funny (i lost one in my 1/4 panel doing some body work the other day) and the battery doesn't last very long so i need to buy some more but for $20 shipped i'm happy with it thus far.

i guess the hf cordless circ saw doesnt even come with a charger,  the person working there which may or maynot be (probly is) an idiot told me the batteries are disposable on those and you need to buy a new one when they die.  what the fuck? they even told me it was retarded.

so i grabbed a 1500/3200w inverter http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=93761 which rang up $99  dont know why , have to say we were suprised every time we plugged somthing in and it didnt go into protection,  it ran a 10a circular saw and cut a 2x4, a sawsall, a 4.5" angle grinder, then we tried a 10" chop saw and it didnt like that, but came right back on

I bought a cheap battery powered sawzall

It works pretty good. The battery charge doesn't last really long but for most jobs it's plenty sufficient. It came with 2 batteries too.

It's great to have at the pick and pull.
