Since tax return is already burning a hole in my pocket, instead of blowing it on something wasteful, like a lift for my truck, or strippers, i decided to buy a TIG. I'm looking to spend around 2500, up and running. I plan to just use it around my garage, doing whatever needs done for the projects I have going on and maybe make a few bucks here and there.

i really have always been a fan of Miller for their TIGs, and i am currently thinking the Miller Syncrowave 200. I used to weld aircraft shit, and I was most comfortable with the way the arc struck and stability with the Miller over the Lincoln and Esab machines we also had.

I am open to suggestions, but I'm not really wanting any ching chong ones, I want to spend the cash and get a good one.

For $2500, you could score a used Dynasty 200dx, pretty ultimate, the functions are more advanced and capable then the syncrowave with the added benefit of using half as much power and taking it wherever you please (can even run it off 110v).

i have a syncrowave 200 it works great, bought it new, no complaints, if you can find a used dynasty that would be ideal but either way youll have a great welder

thermal dynamics have decent options too, but seem to be more troublesome

i really would like to find one, but i have been looking with no luck. i have used the dynasty a lot, and fell in love with it. There is no question if i could find a used one for that price I would own it right now...

What other equipment do you have? You might be better off to buy something less expensive and get other things to increase your capability.

like what else do you mean?

I have a lincoln mig and plasma, lots and lots of hand tools, chop saw, drill press, tubing bender, belt sander, bench grinder, ect...

i would like to get a mill and lathe, but have no room in my garage, time for a bigger one....
