i need a 4 door beater car i dont have to waste money on came across on 00' focus cheap  but it has like 226k on it, its a manual trans and has some kind of fords version of a vtec engine.. i went looked at it and it was actually in decent shape just needs some sway bar links.. ran and drove fine like a boring ford car.  i dont know shit about these..  is this thing already past its useful life? why is the dash in the shape of a rainbow?  :?:

Focuses aren't bad cars at all.  I've seen a lot of them last a long time, and they have decent suspension under them as well.

Friend of mine had one for a while. His 3 of the 4 power windows broke (some pos plastic cable inside the door) and the a/c died, and it ate an alternator every 6 months (lifetime warranty autozone). Car did act funny a couple times, electrical issues, but always ran and got us where we needed to go. He sold it, but it was a reliable car none the less, think it had 150k miles on it or so.

My Deville did that, the cable was steel but it was attached to the window with a plastic clip.
If you stop trying to use it once it breaks you won't fuck up the plastic pulleys and can fix it.

Tear the shit apart,
Remove what's left of the clip
put the cable back in place (put the lug next to where the clip should be
and cover the entire broken clip area with metal putty/jb stick/ epoxy putty of your choice.
never worry about it again.

that sucks lol

ya this thing so far seems like its easy to work on and all the parts are cheap.  thing was hesitating and running like shit after i bought it, found water pooled in the spark plug holes leaf blowed it out, still ran shitty so pulled the plugs and they looked like they were the original motorcrafts.  threw in some NGKs now it runs good.  pretty sure most or all of the coil springs are broke and one sway bar link was just hangin in the air  :?:
