costs to buy back an insurance write off
« on: November 01, 2012, 02:53:30 PM »

Local posted a 91 integra low miles hit in the drivers door for cheap.
Basically I pay the tow yards fees and he'll sign the title to me.

I rented a trailer and was set to pick it up tonight and he tells me his insurance totalled it out and its theirs now.

I see people post up that end up buying out from the insurance.
If he does that I'm sure it couldn't cost much.

Would I still need to pay the lot fees or does the insurance cover those?
Trying to see how hard I push the matter. I want the car but I don't want to pay shit for it in typical fashion.
Especially if its through the insurance as it will no longer be titled I assume.

I'm still pissed the guy led me on enough to rent a trailer this morning and get burned on the cost of that. I'm usually more Jew then this.

if the insurance bought it, it will be towed to an auction house and auctioned there. if the guy buys it back from the insurance, the insurance and him will haggle out a price, then you will be able to buy it from dude.

Right, but after dude and insurance haggle out a price is it still flog to be in the tow lot or what typically happens there?

I should delete all that garbage and ask that one simple question.

insurance companies don't let shit sit in tow yards and accumulate storage fees. if the car is still in the tow yard, there's something fishy.

When my car was hit, a lady showed up the next day (from other guy's insurance). She took pics, asked questions, then gave me a number to take the car off my hands. She said that minus $400 and taxes would be what I get if I kept the car. Hellz yeah I kept it.

I drove my car home and it was done in my driveway. It almost sounds like the guy wanted someone to pay his fees then he'd tell them he'd keep the car (and to get fucked).
