HOW MUCH HORSEPOWER D15B7
« on: March 18, 2009, 07:55:16 PM »

just wondering if the d15b7 motors are any good ? what kind of power can they handle with stock block/head with maybe turbo or n/a are they worth doing a mini-me head swap. i was wanting to do a n/a build with just some bolt on's like intake mani header maybe a cam and just maybe a vtec head if they are worth it????? :noel:

pencil rods are uber suspect. Typical hmt build you'll be fine

A6 cam, Y8 camgear, Z6 IM, header, and a chipped ECU if you want to stay N/A.

Add a 13G and 390 injectors for a mild boost setup, but don't plan on pushing it too hard.

Go over to Honda tech and ask them.  You will get plenty of people with no experience tell you what you are wanting to hear.

You need to convert to OBD-1 and aim for 180 at the wheels before it blows

Your being too kind by throwing the "kinda" in there, the only motors that are more useless are the D15B2, B1, B8, and B6 in order. The fucking Z1 is more useful, but not by much.

well i just found out that my obd2 ecu is vtec. so im probably just going to do a mini me. and some -ebay bolt on goodies <-- :-[ well just intake manifold and header, but hey i heard that you can use a y8 head gasket and get more compression. and a z6 head gasket will give you lower compression... is this true ?    :somb:

Z6 HG= Y8 HG. Why are you trying to stuff a B7 into an OBD-2 car?

boost it, learn from it, go bigger next time.   That n/a shit is gonna cost you money and give you +5hp

You sound like a noob and thats fine.  You'd probably be surprised how fun it would be with 160whp or so.
Also, fuck vtec.

hey slos13 i know i sound like a noob. but --- i have r-hmt'd about 4 motors that were all z6 motors. i had a friend get his si hatch turbod and was like WHAT you can turbo a honda  ;D and it all started from that point on i had to turbo my honda my friend said he was going to help me but instead he did nothing... so thats when i found you guys after searching the internet for info. but i moved on from those cars and the FMU's to boosting my first (tuned) gsr it put down 256whp but i fried the piston rings in about 3 months on 8psi... so i found a b20z motor for only $200 and then a idea then hit me b20/vtec.. i know everyone has heard all the horror storys about stock b20 and boost so i decided to try it for myself to see what would happen and so far tuned on crome at 9psi the b20/vtec put down 342whp and 247wtq and its been over a year now and its still going strong not 1 problem yet but in the back of my mind im always thinking b20 and boost= boom - oh and its also the first motor i have ever done that doesnt smoke :noel: sorry so long just thought i would share some of my life storys with yallll
