leds
resisters

You will not be able to dim them properly without a PWM dimmer control.

I have a set of LEDs that I got off ebay.  They use a wedge base like the stock bulbs.  Seem to work pretty well, was like $12 for a pack of 10 or 15.  Just search "Blue LED" and whatever your bulb type is (like 194).  The dimmer still works too, although they are brighter.  I also picked up a pack of 50 smaller blue LEDs and resistors for when I get around to putting them behind my HVAC controls and stuff.

If they don't work at first, turn the LED around in the base so the polarity is reversed when its installed.  The wedge bases are made for normal filiment bulbs, which are non-polarized, so there is no way to make them go in a specific way.  You might get lucky getting them all in right the first time, or you might need to fiddle with it a bit.
