I have a "not so genuine" copy of XP I got from a member here (High 5 to the pigeon connoisseur). I was trying D-load a program to batch rename file extensions. I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing and it D-loaded .net framework SP1. It failed genuine validation, now I have the star of shame when I boot up and in the task bar. I don't have a penny to my name until I get my tax return so just purchasing is not an option. What can I do about this? What if I have a genuine WPA key?

I have moved onto Win7 so can't vouch for this particular torrent personally (there are always new wga patches), but it's been "verified by the community" and seems to be fully-featured:

Make sure you read the readme and follow the instructions closely.

Also, if you have an anti-virus installed, it may report that some of the files are infected -- a lot of antivirus software will do that now because either 1) the software needs to execute code that trips heuristic scans in order to crack the software 2) the AV company just is being a douchebag to alleged pirates
