I bought the car to drive.  I didn't feel bad for paying $5800 when I probably could have bought it for $5600 because I knew I bought the car for much less than market value.  The car has less horsepower than I typically want.  I will most likely turbo it.  If I decide not to, I will sell it.  If I sell it, I will be able to atleast recover my costs as I bought it cheaper than market value.  Get it?

94-95's are much tigher than the 99's.  I drove a 94 a couple of weeks ago and I was not comfortable.  My legs were hitting the steering column.  The 99 I fit in with ease.

i fit just fine in the 95 and im the same size as you. aslo trust me i get it about buying a car and being able to sell it for at least what you paid for it. ive done it 20-30+ times. ive kinda down graded on what i buy lately but i still buy several cars a year. my plan with my miata back in 2005 was to turbo it. but it didnt last long enough. even with the low hp there still fun till you turbo it. does smoke shows and donuts and lets you drive like a maniac. i had a lot of funny memories in mine for owning it for such a short time. luckily not many people know i owned a miata though.

So you pass up a black on black that runs great to pick up a white on tan that has problems for around the same price? Good plan.

The EGR is a common problem with a $5 fix.  The car might need an alignment.  The car has 20k less miles on it and has a hard top worth $1000.  It's never seen snow, unlike the other car.  It's been garage kept or kept under a good quality cover during the winters.  It was driven by an old man and old lady.  They have service records.  The other car had oil around the exhaust manifold.  The coil pack and cat was recently changed($600)

Overall, the car is a much better buy for the hard top alone.  They aren't common and they are pretty expensive.  Do I think I could have gotten it a bit cheaper?  Probably.  I'm not too concerned about it because I know I bought it well under market value.

I can appreciate you being price savvy, but I am afraid you're going to completely screw this up due to bigwig-ness.

The Integra you sold was very much not in bad shape, actually in great shape given how the kids have destroyed those cars.  You just lost sight of the value of doing a day or two's work, and your usual follow through problems.  At the end of the day installing a turbo kit on a Miata is a complete waste of time and money... but can you forget all about that and lose yourself in the experience the car represents completely outside it's book value and the annoyance it creates in your life?

The turbo'd Integra was in worse shape than it showed.  Believe me.  I know what mistakes I made.  Example, I took a LONG time installing the clutch, outside, during the rainy season.  I neglected to use any locktite on any of the bolts.  I'm pretty sure I might have hurt the engine a couple of times when experimenting with different basemaps for Uberdata.  A friend was helping me jack up the car, jacked in the wrong place on the body and it put a small hole in the floor.  The car wasn't a Buk or Yuri failure, but it definitely had issues.  Forget all of that, the body and paint was in not good condition.  A fair amount of rust and a good amount of overall paint issues.  Figuring in low balling Honda faggots, the car was a loss and sold as such.

The Miata will stay stock until I make a decision one way or the other.  If I enjoy the car, I might turbo it.  It won't be done for several months if I decide to do it.  I might leave the car as is and enjoy a simple car that is great to drive.  If I don't really like it, I'm going to sell it.  It's not that complicated.

I'd appreciate you not trying to talk to me like a person who knows better.  I have some life experience you don't have.  Have you negotiated $100,000 contracts?  Instrumental part of a $1.2 million dollar project?  Been involved in coordinating crews of 20+ people?

In the end it's just a car.  A $5800 car.  Let's not act like it's the defining purchase or moment in my or anyone elses life.

OK?

Have you successfully turbocharged a vehicle?

Depends on what you consider successfully.  I'd say yes.  The car drove, made boost, made 240whp and 235wtq at Jeff Evan's dyno.  Never broke down.  Never didn't start(except for when I used a bad basemap on an experimental version of UD).  To different people, they would be proud of it.  Because I'm ultra critical, it was just ok.

have you ever taken a 10 pound shit? been instrumental in clogging up the plumbing of a 3.8gpf dorm toilet? made 20+ people gag and run out of the room in pure awe of your flatulence? these questions are just as relevant.
