Tuning Toyota Corolla ECU (2000)
« on: June 13, 2010, 01:22:48 PM »

Is there any sort of flash DIY rig for this, or if I want to stay ODB2 compliant I will have to keep boost to like 5psi and run an fmu?

What you flash it with, now there's the question.

If there's enough fuel pump, I'd just run the FMU and keep the boost reasonably low.  Its cheap and it works (unless it has a gay returnless fuel system).  Isn't this the same corolla that was knocking a while back?

Wow, $500

Actually, the generic ISO units like the MFC or the eurotrash one seem to sell for sub-$300.  The Ford/GM/Chrysler one runs $475-ish.

If you look at how the domestic market is structured with locked $300+ handhelds for Ford/Chrysler, and GM with the $700+ HP Tuners/EFILive handhels with $100+ per car license fees, it's pretty affordable.  Binary Editor currently flashes 96+ Ford (Chrysler in the works)  ECUs through the Mongoose SCI cable - buy the software once for under $200, done.  Tune 4-5 cars and you're ahead of the game.

Yeah, it sucks for the single user, but if you're in the game it's fucking phenominal pricing.

I think all cop cars need to have turbo. nbspnbsp Then they would understand the necessity of putting your foot down and how uncontrollable the urge is to fucking rail on that shit.

Field's VTEC Controller

Chris, the times have passed you by.

I've always wondered - did they just activate the solenoid, or trick the ecu thinking it was at a higher rpm?

Interesting.

The car still knocks but I checked with the local car thieves down in the bronx and they have complete engine/tranny swaps for me at 250$ for this car so I wont sweat it.

I figure I spend the summer looking into tuning, then when I actually have an income I can bang it out.

buy my FMU in the meantime, then drive up to albany to get it.  Or pay for shipping.

I am cursed with another MAF on this car. Whats better than a maphack? a resistor and leaving the ECU in the sun until the tables magically align.
