Curious about buying one. Anyone have experience w/ them. pros cons? I like my solder braid and $10 radio shack manual pump but i think its time to upgrade. Id love a hakko but i dont do enough soldering to warrent spending 150 plus.

I wouldn't call that electronic, exactly.

The whole load and pushbutton stuff annoys me, I've tried with the non-heated solder suckers (you flow with a seperate iron on the top of the board) and don't like them.  Adam Hopkins used one when he came to visit and did a masterful job with one of those, so there is a viable method there I just don't use it.

Should work better than the standalone sucker that needs a seperate iron to heat, not having to juggle two tools negates 90% of my problem with "that design."  Just remember to keep the tip super clean, and tin it with a little solder before you begin, and it should work pretty well.

The only problem I see is the release button being so far back on the handle. It may be tricky to hit the plunger on smaller stuff. Looks neat though. I use a plunger tool to de-solder and had no idea they came as a single unit. I use a huge plastic one though. It pulls a lot more volume so it's much easier to clean the joint out.

get a desoldering station with a vacuum pump and be done.
