I joined TBF just to read your build threads.

You do some great work, very RHMT, surprised you haven't made it here earlier!

I was only on page 50 of your build so I did not get to where you are now lol. I really want to do some sort of LS vulgarity now.

I am now scouring my local pull a part for any L series engines with no luck so far. It seems the secret is out. I have however, found a lq4 out of a Silverado that has drive by wire throttle body for $400. Does that mean it is a Gen IV? Guy said it would need to be freshened up because it smoked. Wonder if I should bite the bullet?

Sorry for the questions. Never was I interested into domestics until now so I have some catching up to do.

I would get it for 400, wouldn't even second guess it. New rings, good hone and some gaskets. Ready to rock!

you could even use the head gaskets again, 04-06 and up are gen4 internals, somewhere around 08 they started making them 58x gen4 crank also, and 4x cam gear.

there is always gaps in the years, because they trickle stuff to silverados, then to the vans, then the chassis trucks etc.

so something that was in the cars in like 04, eventually made it to the trucks in 06 ish if you know what i mean

honestly if you are going to do a turbo LSX build i might suggest the "denmah" special from VS racing.
he took all my most popular items that i have used on many builds and put them in a up-gradable package deal.

..... *pasted in from Turboforums

1 GT 45 Turbo
1 GT 45 discharge and clamp
1 3" intercooler 31*12*3
1 60mm WG
1 50mm BOV
1 2.5" ic piping kit with couplers black or silver
oil drain and feed braided setup
t4 divided flange

all for 868 shipped in the lower 48 states. Normally we would sell this for 1029

upgrade to 4" intercooler add 50.00
upgrade to 3" piping kit add 50.00
upgrade walbro 255lph add 99
upgrade injectors 80lb add 400.00 60lb 350
