F2B Turbo "Deathtrap"
« on: March 19, 2016, 02:04:42 AM »

I picked this project up from Steven a while back.... DAMN JUST LOOKED IT WAS OCT. 2014. Here is a  link to the orginal thread.
http://www.realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/index.php/topic,22595.0.html

Anyway... i drove the car a couple months on the basemap beating on it, before i went to get tuned and then the head gasket took a shit during the tune. Rolling smoke clouds on the way home from the exhaust. Needless to say the car has been sitting the past 6-8 months at my parents house in there driveway. Only thing I have change exterior wise is the wheels.

Basic Run down of the setup for the lazy fuckers:

f22b2 block with f22a1 head now getting a Delta 272.
Evo 8 manifold and 16g turbo
Megan racing downpipe
Hidden piping Setup
HiProfiles  IN800s
4 bar map sensor.

pick from the other side

Oh yeah. I shipped my IN 800s to HiProfile for testing and cleaning. All was good.

Two Weeks ago it was nice out so i finally started to tackle the car. Pulled the head and thats when I got to see the damage. So I ordered a head gasket and valve cover gasket set.

Heads off and no cracked sleeves.  O0

Close up of the gasket  :?:

So Friday morning i started to clean up the block deck but realized i didnt have any razor blades... Pulled the ARP studs out since they got loose when i removed the head and oil got down in the holes. So next i was using a rag and goo gone. I also put some ATF in the cylinders to loose up some of the dirt. Also i thought this would be a good way to check the cylinder rings and see how much they drain or if they dont at all.

Also tonight i woke up to find my Delta 272 cam was delivered. But i didnt have anytime to look at it before I came into work tonight.

Also friday morning i picked up my head gasket and valve cover gaskets i had being held for me. I always miss deliveries.

Game plan for tomorrow. Possible junkyard run to for sedan fenders, bumper, and hood. Also for a f23a fuel rail for later use with this prb maifold.  I also want to finishing cleaning up the blocks deck and the head and start the reassembly. Just remembered i need feeler gauges. Also need to pick up coolant and oil.

Between being hungover today and sleeping.  I did manage to pick up Sedan fenders and front bumper.  The guy had a bunch of honda posts,  engines,  and a few cars.

Working 7pm -7am all this week too.  Hopefully I can get something done.

Nothing really eventfull yet. .. flushed the block out,  drained oil,  cleaned arp head studs,  cleaned head stud holes,  swapped on sedan fenders.  Still need to trim the bumper so I can install it.

Hopefully arp and head install this weekend.  Still need to clean the head surface and swap the cam in too.

Fuck 12 hour days

Finally got around to doing some work. Just have to install injectors, clean fuel filter, connect charge piping, connect all hoses and plugs. Then add fluids.

It's all back together and running.  I need to get the old gas out, change spark plugs,  trim the front bumper so it fits, and run the mac solenoid.

How much paint is needed for a car.  Going to chalk board paint the whole thing.

Things I noticed while running the car checking for leaks. Has gasket leaks between the turbo and manifold and the donut on the downpipe.

Also the turbine housing is broken at the corner of the exhaust flange.... I think I'm going to JBweld around it.

A little update.  Got the mac solenoid zip tied to the washer fluid neck. Got a sedan front in the car minus the hood.  Still need to get a hood.  Also still need to get paint.

Need to pick up another wideband since I was stupid and sold the one from the accord.  Also will be getting a old demon v1.2 I think from my tuner, so I will be looking for the Bluetooth module  too.

I need to decide on a Ectune or Neptune license

well I've been driving the sedan for like 3 weeks.... after letting it sit for 7 months.  Got it tuned and it made ~230whp/250wtq @ 20psi on 93 octane. Art at YCU tuned it on his mustang dyno.  We were having issues not boosting over 20 psi... which we determined was because of the boost solenoid sitting exposed to the elements all winter.  With me driving the car now what ever rust was in the boost solenoid is gone. Now Im hitting 25psi boost cut in 4th and 5th sometimes 3rd.

just got a hulog do start datalogging the car.  i need to wire in the wideband to the ecu for that yet.  car pulls good end will roast the tires 1st-3rd. I need to upload the pics and videos somewhere.  What's everyone using now to pictures and videos?

YouTube for videos. Easy and free. Pics, I'm still using Google photos but fuck, they suck too. Someone needs to come up with a photobucket hack so all my photos can be seen. I have thousands posted that are broken now.

Is the turbo pretty small for this engine? What is the compression ratio on this block/head combo? I love the setup. I still have engine mounts I bought years ago to do something similar.

it might be a little small for the 2.2 liter... it's a fun little car.  very snappy. I think the compression ratio is around 8:1

I've been having battery issues lately events after a new battery.... just found the custom bracket Steven made for the alternator had a mounting bolt snap in the block. so the bracket and alternator are moving... ugh.  now I got to figure out how to fix this without pulling it all apart.

I'm also trying to find any old pic of the bracket layout. to see if can get away with tightening up the other mounting bolts.

After some creative thinking I got the alternator secured and fixed the voltage issue.  Only to have something let go last night while driving to work.  I'll find out in a little.  😂😂😂😖😖😖

you should be able to find an add-on in Chrome, https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/photobucket-hotlink-fix/kegnjbncdcliihbemealioapbifiaedg?hl=en&hotlinkfix=1521814478011

is there a mobile fix

Depends what mobile browser you use, Chromium based i.e. Chrome, FireFox, and Opera, yes there is.

For Windows mobile not sure, unless you use the above browsers on windows mobile.
