as long as it has locks, which all lifts do, theres nothing to worry about. i hope your garage cieling is at least 12 feet

i know when me and my friend bought lifts i paid $2400 installed 10k lb hanmecson, he got pretty much the same thing i got for right around there. great lifts for the money.

My friends has put a full size pickup on his, and i can say i won't stand under it. but it doesn't sway or anything.

how far into the ground do the posts go or are they just bolted to the floor?

I'd be a little worried if they were just bolted.  A little less worried if they went a couple feet into the ground/cement.

the lift i have in my shop is lagged to 6" slab. 8 lags per post. lifts 3500 lb cars without even a hint of moving.

Hoists need to be bolted into reinforced concrete. I know a few guys that have just cut squares out of their shop floor, dug down an extra 2ft and had new stuff poured in. Then a hiliti and a few friends and it is an easy job to install.

If I had the overhead room in my garage, I would have had one years ago.

You can get good quality, good shape lifts for a grand.   Installation is a bitch because they are super heavy, you can usually get one of the pro installers to do an afterhours job for less but you NEED a few strong boys to help erect them as the installer probably doesn't have shit beyond a concrete drill and some stuff to make chalk lines with.

Yeah i would think reinforced concrete would be a good idea. but if your not loading it all fucked up there shouldn't be an issue. i mean the lifts place the load evenly for the most part.

Hell if nothing else poor a new slab outside the garage. My grandpa put him a cheap two post on a slab right outside the shop considering he didnt have high enough ceilings. Its been out there for the past six years and is still in great shape. You just have to keep everything greased and when its cold as hell out the lift is slow. If you do buy a cheapy new one make sure you get one that is sufficiently wide enough. It sucks having to squeeze out the door on a truck or suv.

I've always wanted one of these. One day... But I think if I'm gonna spend the money I'm gonna get the biggest/strongest/best that I can afford. I got a homemade drive up lift and it sucks that it's not that long.
