Hey all. That's my car. Thanks for all the kind words. I am sooo stoked to get back and see it and finally get too drive it. As far as stock .... well ..... considering I already ordered a lil' somethin for it  and I haven't even seen it in person I don't think that'll happen. I do plan on getting back driving it for a while before starting any super serious mods. I wanna drive it and develop a plan based on the short comings in it I see. I can already tell it needs a couple things too suit me. Plus I don't know how much time I'll have too work on it. I mean shit I've been home what 5 months out of the last 2 years.
Big thanks to Imburne for the pics they're great and I really appreciate you taking the time to do them for me.

You make me feel bad for Mister Scientist.  Although that is a super sweet super clean car, our military boys should never pay retail.

Step 1) Buy lightly wrecked 39K mile 540 awhp '05 Evo MR for $10K

First what's funny is with all the fast and furious quotes going around it's Ironic that this car is actually in and was put together for the new fast and furious movie coming out  :P
I paid 15K for it here's the link to the for sale post and a shit ton more pics. I really don't think I got raped. But we'll see what others think.

If you look at the link I posted above on that page there is a link to Kaizo and exactley what they do and how that works in detail. Here's an article on the Guy that I bought the car from and how registration and bringing them to the states works in relation to skylines and most any other vehicle.
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Features/articleId=105699

Cliff notes version:
Kaizo picks the best looking chassis' they can find in Japan. They strip them of the motor and drivetrain. They take the body panels off and interior out. Everything is welded and reinforcements are added to meet DOT standards (door beams moved up, seatbelt mounts reinforced, etc...) Once it meets standrds it's given basically what is a VIN number to the Cahssis. The body panels and interior are reinstalled. Then it is shipped to the states. The EPA and DOT don't care because it's an "automotive component" not a full up car. When it gets here the engine and Transmission are installed and the car is registered as a unibody kit car. This is the same way noble gets it's supercars to the states.

I'm well aware of kaizo. In fact I know a few cars that he has brought though. Hes got a real good service, and its 100% legit. I asked because I didnt wanna see a "the govt is trying to get my JDM evo!!!11!!" thread.

That's not a bad price.  Keep it clean and you'll make a profit off of it, IMO.

Almost a price I don't believe. That's a $6k+ car in Okinawa, a non-TM edition and I never saw a TM edition. I think kaizo is around $8k. I'm sure this guy isnt working for free...they must have gotten a slammin deal on it at the auction.

I didn't think it was too bad at all. It's an EVO which is something I have wanted for a long time and this one is really unique for the states. So when I was lookin for an EVO 8 or 9 and came across this one it was a no brainer.

Yup I want one but can't justify the coin for a 15 year old car with the steering wheel on the gay side.

I want Rachel to get an EVO/Subie and she wants the same. Except its hard to find a 04 for less than 25k that doesnt have a "I was a JDM rallycar for my owner" look.

found some imprezzas for around $15k but anything more was too rich for my blood

active yaw control.  i really don't understand it that well.  but to have an evo that can't be replicated by swapping a dsm drivetrain into a mirage will be sick.

did you hear about the new mexico importation laws to canada?  meaning we can get audi S3s and the new/old beetles.
