I just ordered a 128GB thumb drive of ebay, for $28usd. We will see if it makes it here and if it works... 15-30 days shipping from China. LOL.

Well it was a little over the 30 days, but it arrived this morning and works perfectly. It looks and feels identical to the kingston 128gb I held in the store.

I will take pics of it, and screen shots of the capacity tonight when I get home.

On a side note the ebay listing was pulled by ebay a day after I bought this, and I filled a pay pal claim at about 28 days, and cancelled that claim this morning. I am going to try and contact the seller and see if I can get more.  :noel:

I want you to actually fill it up with 128gb too :D

I've heard of them reporting fake amounts of memory.

Almost forgot about this thread :P

run that h2testw program on it and it will tell you the actual size of the drive itself.

This happened to me a few years ago. Bought a 2 GB mp3 player and it turned out to be 128 MB. It showed up as 2 GB when plugged in to the computer, but when you put more than 128 MB of music on it it would get all fucked up. Performed a reformat and it showed up as 128 MB.

Test started 7hrs remaining. I think I will have to abort before I go home and run it again at home, but I should at least get it half way done at work

Shouldn't have cancelled the claim.  I could be wrong, but my bet is on it being fake, and thats probably the reason the listing was pulled....   I guess we'll know in a few hours :P

Even if it is 4gb's for $28 I am okay with it. I was okay with it even if paypall wouldn't have given me my money back and it didn't work at all.

True that, but 4GB for $0 is still a better value :P

Someday they'll hit $28.

Written and verified 66gb's I ran out of time at work, and was too lazy to restart the process at home. It is at least 66GB's of usable space.

Once I eat some dinner, and find the camera I will take some pics of the drive, and the packaging ect...

SHit 66 gb's is worth it but i wonder how fast it is.  that was one notable difference when i bought a nice 4 gig Vs my cheap ass 4 gig like 3-4 years ago.  after i formatted their bullshit off of it the cheaper one took a little bit longer to load and save shit on it.

Avg speed on writing that 66gb (thanks to JD's program link) was 4.77MB/s. Now this is on my old ass work computer with 3 programs and a remote desktop running. It is so old I am not even sure it runs USB2.0

If I manage not to pass out in the lazy boy tonight, I will do a speed test on my laptop, and get around to those pics. I got up last night to find the camera and I found Capitan Morgan's private stock first...

With a 2.0 port, even a 7200rpm HDD will only do ~25MB/s. The cheap adapters w/SDHC cards I posted above will range from 5-15MB/s, which is *highly* dependant on file sizes. Due to how flash mem works, greater amount of smaller files will drop write speed by a huge amount.

If you guys really want lots of external memory, just get an E-sata enclousure, a cheap drive, and an e-sata pci card if you don't have a port already. Or firewire for older but still quick shit.

Still going strong, have about 42gb on it currently. Best $28 I ever spent on computer stuff.
